We have stayed in Hotel La Fossette numerous times and have always been welcomed back by the lovely family who ran it (mum, daughter and boyfriend) who could never do enough for us and were incredibly friendly. In the past I would have given it 5 stars. This time there was a new manager/director who, although was not unfriendly, was rather too ‘laid back’ and disorganised for our liking. Upon arrival we were told they didn’t have beach towels (which they always did have). However, they did eventually get us some, albeit a bit reluctantly. He didn’t seem to be very ‘hands on’ and always had his staff running errands instead of getting involved himself. The room was fine, rather on the small side but perfectly satisfactory with good air conditioning and reasonably clean. The next day our room was not cleaned at all and after that was not cleaned to a satisfactory standard with sink and shower taps left dirty. We were disappointed. Breakfast begin at 8.30am and they seemed to be unprepared even at that time! They were still mopping the floor when we arrived one morning! The manager still chopping up cheese at 9am! I would have liked another coffee but the staff were also eating their breakfast and I was not offered one. A little unprofessional in my opinion. I have not experienced staff having their breakfast with the guests. Having loved this hotel for several years, we would probably not return quite so readily although the position of it, close to the c beach is perfect and the short, but very pretty walk to St Clair is one we have always enjoyed. Let’s hope they smarten up their act and Hotel la Fossette is back to its normal superb self. Maybe we will give it the benefit of the doubt.
