My wife and I had the pleasure of staying for 2 nights at the exquisite Middle House in Askrigg in November 2024. We needed to alter our booking, and thus the faultless customer service began - even from prior to our check-in. John and the team have created a classy, welcoming but cosy atmosphere throughout Middle House, which makes for a very convivial and comfortable stay. The food is absolutely exceptional. Ingredients of the highest quality are cooked to perfection, served promptly, and by polite and pleasant staff. Middle House has been polished up to be a hidden gem at the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales. Congratulations to John and the team, and many thanks to you all.

My husband and I stopped here for 2 nights. We were warmly welcomed and checked in promptly. The room was a superior double and bigger than I expected, with a nice seating and TV area. It was spotlessly clean and warm, with a really comfortable bed and great views! . The shower was lovely - powerful, with plenty of hot water! We ate at the hotel one evening and had breakfast on both mornings. All the food was really delicious! Freshly cooked with generous portions and reasonably priced. All the staff we met were smiley, friendly and helpful 😊. The hotel has lots of walks on the door step . You might want to pop into the Bake well cafe for a tasty cake ! We will definitely be returning!

We went to The Middle House for dinner and it was wonderful. The bar, restaurant and hotel have recently been taken over and refurbished, and they have done a fantastic job. There’s a great selection of ales and an extensive menu. Highly recommended.

Another wonderfully chilled stay in Middle House, Askrigg. The bar feels so relaxed and conversation between tables add to the friendly atmosphere. The selection of alcohol is of a high quality with plenty of variety, including traditional hand pulled beers. Food is the restaurant was again excellent, consistent with my first visit. In fact, the posh shepherds pie lamb pieces were so tender and the flavours mouth-watering....all the food that got served looked top notch and I don't think I'd have been disappointed if given a surprise meal. The room was immaculately clean and the bed in room number 9 was so comfortable - would definitely request this room for a future visit. It had a sitting area that with beautiful Yorkshire views. Breakfast again, it had to be the full Yorkshire.....with great quality coffee....what else can I say other than I'm looking forward to visiting again and again....

Place is nice enough, staff friendly but a bit hopeless Went for a group meal Requested a little more mash which arrived with the puddings Very expensive and not good portions, sausage and no enough mash Caesar salad £19 with “bought in” sauce Unforgivable

What a lovely place to stay, great staff, great rooms and great bar with good food. Good clean and comfortable rooms and the Host John was extremely helpful. The beer is good and have a lovely local vibe. Location is excellent with easy travel or walks to a stunning local area.

Delicious dinner with excellent service. Food arrived piping hot. Decor very good and created a relaxing ambience. Returned on another occasion for a drink with family. Again super service. Definitely recommend patronising this establishment. Asset to Askrigg

Recently renovated to a high standard, a lovely find in a beautiful village. Friendly staff, good service & very tasty food..... the G&T was pretty yummy too...!! Nice atmosphere with a mix of locals and visitors & dogs welcome. Recommend booking.

What a find…. This place is a lovely country hotel, exceptionally clean, lovely comfy beds & pillows and the towels are really nice and soft. The breakfast was lovely and had lots of gluten free options available. The staff couldn’t do enough for you to make your stay the best. Will definitely be returning. They have a really lovely beer garden out the back too worth visiting if just passing for a drink.
