Filario Hotel & Residences

⚠️⚠️⚠️MUST READ ⚠️⚠️BEDBUG🪳🪳⚠️⚠️ My family and I were planning to stay here for three nights in August. After arriving we were so excited to start our vacation in Italy with our two kids. As we checked in one of the two bedrooms apartments we noticed how the place was appalling and had stains all over the walls. You can see what I am talking about in the pictures inscribed below . The next morning , both of my kids and I noticed red spots all over our legs and back with my older son having a little stream of semi-dried blood going down his leg which we unfortunately cleaned away before we thought of taking a picture of it . The following morning we let the front office know and they said they will change the apartment and change the sheets and we also told them about the sofa and how basically everything else in the apartment looked dirty. We did not think about it much as we were excited to start our vacation but during the day my two kids body was itching so much where the bedbugs were that we had to stop and give him medication to stop the itching. My younger one was crying so much and scratching the marks that the following couple days were completely ruined and we couldn’t get to any of the activities that we had planned for the days . On top of all of this , our kids were so traumatized and now have a bad impression of Milan being an indelible negative mark jn their trip to Italy and were begging us to not go back to the hotel. I called the hotel ask for the manager. After calling few times they finally put her on the phone. Her name is Federica Who was not helpful at all. Stay away from this place if you do not want to have a disastrous trip!

The villas and apartments look great on pictures but in real life, are more like student dorms. Very bad price quality deals, pictures on the web are very staged, nothing like like it’s reality. One of our group suffered from bed bugs bites. Manager was not willing to resolve our complaints. Waiters are kind but slow to serve. Breakfast is not so good. Hotel was a great view of the lake but very high price for que quality you receive.

Gorgeous resort, clean and well kept. Beach bar and restaurant staff fantastic. Getting around is not the easiest, the ferries and buses did not seem to operate to any actual schedule, and the staff were completely uninformed on logistics- offering only private water taxis for $180 one way… The public ferries that do come terminate around 7, so you are stuck on one side of the lake. (Buses thankfully stop later) There was no full length mirror anywhere in our 4 person apartment (only small bathroom mirror) for 3 girls sharing this wasn't ideal. We asked for one but nothing appeared.

Modern place, with modern architecture, the rooms are more beautiful than the apartments, the breakfast was extremely limited and very disappointing, even when you ask for something more, it is chargeable, they can do better with the breakfast because those amazing views deserve great breakfast.

The filaro was a fabulous hotel that allowed us to enjoy being right on the lake. The staff is incredibly kind. There is a fabulous snack shack on the water that serves wonderful pizzas, gelato, and cocktails for a more casual dinner right at the shore of the lake. The breakfast buffet is lovely, and the room has a great view of the lake and mountains as well. The accommodations were fantastic and the balconies are a wonderful perch for evening drinks or sitting outside in the morning! Would highly recommend!

Stayed in the 2 bed apartment, you have to reach them via a scruffy car park so first impressions were not good. Apartment was like a student’s accommodation standard not what you would expect for a five star accommodation. Bed was uncomfortable & I also woke to have several bites on my legs. Breakfast wasn’t great for me little to no choice for gluten free allergy so I had the option of scrambled egg! Not even gluten free toast, so I didn’t join my family on the last day of our 3 day stay. Nice view from balcony

With over 20 years of travel and hotel experience I thought I found a gem on Lake Como but upon arriving felt strongly misled, duped, and deceived by the photos online for the Filario. While I booked many weeks in advance with constant hope to book a room in the MAIN hotel, I settled on our Apartment reservation after reading the highly rated reviews. But upon arrival, we were shocked to spend close to 1,000 Euro a night for a very stark, dirty, rundown, bare basics apartment. There is zero charm, warmth or modern luxe that the Filario site depicts. I am surprised that there are highly rated reviews for the apartments/annex - either they got nicer cleaner rooms and we have been subject to discrimination or those reviews are paid for- I would absolutely NOT recommend this hotel. The management- Federica Cataldi in particular kept saying there was nothing to be done as I booked the apartment myself after looking at the online photos. I tried to communicate that the photos online are NOT accurate at all and I have been deceived; and while she said the apartment with 4 beds is cheaper than a 2 bedroom hotel room, I had to share it is not about the money but about our comfort. And we are extremely disappointed. After being told that we would lose over 3000+ Euros for canceling our reservation and leaving (feeling trapped and deceived) I asked for a vacuum so I could clean the unit myself. The housekeeper arrived and did clean some areas upon my direction, but I do want to share photos of our apartment. We have stayed at other hotels in Italy with similar nightly pricing and they are much much much cleaner, updated, and luxurious, with kinder hospitality and management. The reason I am giving this 2 stars and not 1, is because of access to their bikes, kayaks and pool. If you book the Filario I recommend you only stay in their hotel and not their apartments/annex units. Or save yourself, and look somewhere else.

This place is truly magnificent. Make sure you get a lake view room/apartment (I’m not sure whether they all have this), it’s definitely worth the money - trust me. The rooms are clean, staff is friendly, facilities are modern, outdoor area is neat & gardens are perfectly manicured. Location is great, Bellagio is close by. Also, there are several lake ferries calling to Lezzeno every day. No doubt about it, if I’m going to revisit Lake Como, I will stay at the Filario.

This place is awesome! Amazingly f friendly staff. Great amenities. Quiet and restful. Beautiful views from the balconies. Fantastic food. Comfortable bed. Lovely grounds. Pier close by. View of Babienello from our patio. Everything anyone could want. We stayed at the end of September. It was perfeto! Grazie for a fantastic stay! I would stay here forever if I could. :)
