I visited Aquarium and spa hotel in July with my partner our baby and my mother and father in law, overall the hotel was average, the room was lovely bedding was changed each day and clean to a great standard, meals were quite repetitive ie fish, chips, pasta, pizza but overall I always found something to eat which was sufficient, dining room staff were lovely and very attentive, Gerard from the snack bar went above and beyond and appeared to strive for perfection it seems he was very passionate about his job which was lovely to see he was great! The man who worked the bar who wore a white shirt (sorry can’t remember his name) was wonderful, again he went above and beyond and couldn’t ask for anything more than the service we received from him, he was really an asset to the hotel, we went full board and the drinks were quite pricey however this was expected. What really let the hotel down and I mean it hadn’t just annoyed us but I could see everyone was having the same issue, The security guard was so overboard, I am aware that everyone has a job to do however he was so rude and ignorant, waited for kids to go into the pool with a ball or inflatable and then stood at the pool side pointing , folding his arms and shaking his head at the children without any explanation as to why very confrontational, No inflatables in the pool, No balls (unless beach ball inflatable or if your face fitted) no diving and as far as I seen no having fun in general in the pool. There is a child pool and a larger pool and a very small pool at the back with a water feature , children were being told to get out of the small pool as there was no swimming in there however this had a sticker telling you the depth and no sign telling you no swimming, maybe this should be an investment. Overall from my experience I would say this was a 3* hotel and would have been much more enjoyable if the security was not so uptight he really let this hotel down.
