The worst hotel I have ever stayed in - and I’m a regular traveller - and I’ve been in some dives. The room was old, scruffy, with damp patches and many broken items including rotting window frames. This is not compliant with minimum standards. There was no soap or toiletries of any kind. Just 2/3 of a loo role - exceptionally rough paper! Very old bed. The sheets and pillowcases did not appear to have mites but my partner suffered itching and hives, which she has never had before from a hotel bed. I presume an allergic reaction. This did not affect me though. There were two spare pillows in the wardrobe but no pillowcases. There was an electrical heater and electric fan in the room, neither was PAT tested (a legal requirement). The room was warm - the radiator worked well. The bathroom was tiny with broken shower curtain fixed with tape. Toilet was not clean with brown stains in the base of the bowl (not bleached) and filth between the back of the seat and cistern. One side of the door frame was missing altogether exposing tile edges. Carpet was an old brown wrinkled one that is long overdue for replacement. We dare not go barefoot on it. There was a TV on the wall with just one channel tuned in. The rooms do not have kettles, glasses, iron/board information. These are available at reception though. This is a hotel that does not care for the comfort or environment of its customers. They know that people will always stay regardless, so why spend money making it nice? For the £175 a night we paid, it is a p*ss take.
