One&Only Palmilla

My husband and I were celebrating my birthday at The one and Only Palmilla. Having stayed before, we were pleasantly surprised that the service is still top priority. Lulu and Diego were always available for every request including reservations, specific food/beverage requests, and general questions. They were available via text and always asked about turndown service as well as spa reservations, fitness center inquiries, and always had our room in immaculate condition! Lulu and Diego had a birthday cake delivered to my room on my birthday which was very thoughtful. We had a junior suite, well-appointed room including a DYSON hairdryer! Our unit was a corner unit, unobstructed view of the sunrise and ocean from our bed! Ricardo at the family pool was attentive to our requests for drinks, food and chairs. He brought two champagne glasses to our poolside chairs overlooking the ocean along with a slice of cake on my birthday which was beyond thoughtful. Lulu and Deigo planned a beachside grilled lobster dinner for my birthday dinner. It was the most romantic dinner including a full bar, seating area carved out of sand covered with blankets and throw pillow overlooking a wood fire built by our waiter. The memories made this trip will last a lifetime. As we waited for our car service also planned by The One and Only, the staff presented us with a glass hummingbird as a memento of our stay. From start to finish, a first class, luxury experience! we never left the property ;)

We have been regularly visiting for the past 16 years with the initial stay a honeymoon trip in 2008. We’ve stayed at many ultra-luxe resorts across the globe and had some very special experiences. One & Only Palmilla continues to be a stand-out among them. It is in the best of the best category. The architecture of the buildings and the lush grounds are breathtaking. The simple task of walking to and from the pool, spa, beach or restaurants is an experience in itself. There are many choices now in Cabos San Lucas, and San Jose del Cabo. Construction is seemingly everywhere. But this property is insulated from most of it due to its unique location. Most of the buildings were built a half-century ago or more. There is no way a developer could build something like Palmilla today and that is a big part of its charm. Everything is so grand. The service at every touch point is top notch and highly personalized. A lot of staff recognized us as repeat guests. There are many associates that have worked at Palmilla for more than 10 and even 20 years which is very telling. The spa is extraordinary. The restaurants are terrific. There is a new Asian option which we did not try but looked to be an excellent new option. We were sorry to see that Breezes restaurant, which is adjacent to the adult pool was not operating in summer and has been relocated to the main building, which is not the same. The space where Breezes was located was a little unkept which we brought to management’s attention and will likely be addressed. Nightly entertainment at the restaurants was first-class. We stayed in an Oceanfront 1-bedroom suite. It was spacious and well-appointed. We like that the rooms are not overly “techie.” It was a nice change from so many hotels where you’re pressing buttons all the time to control the lighting and window treatments (we are usually departing by the time we figure out which switch or button controls which light or window lol). We had incredible views of the Sea of Cortez from our suite. It felt like the room was on top of the water. There was a beautiful beach directly in front of our suite and we took morning walks on it, and it is swimmable. We regrettably left the resort one evening to have dinner at the new Four Seasons 25 minutes away which just opened a few months ago. That visit confirmed we made the right decision in booking here rather than there. The hotel has separate adult and family pools. Both are magnificent. We have been to other resorts where one pool is less attractive and less inviting than the other. There is no such issue here. Service around the pools is prompt and professional. Wooden lounge chairs wrapped in fresh towels are super comfortable for wasting the day away in the gentle breeze while listening to the sounds of the ocean. Outstanding property, staff, suites, views, food, pool and beach. Over the last 15-years we've stayed at at almost every other Cabo resorts...none compare to the One & Only.

I loved the tropical ambience of this resort. Most Cabo hotels are arid and have a desert feel. The One and Only is very tropical and green!~

Beautiful place! I will definitely go back. The only complaint I have is I was not made aware on my arrival of all the amenities. I had to ask for a tour on my second day.

Literally the best place I've stayed at, and I've stayed at some incredible places around the world. The service was world class, the facilities are incredible. Lulu & Diego were levels above anything I've experienced before. I couldn't even consider anything bad about this place. You won't be disappointed.

My first stay here six years ago started my One & Only journey. The service at these resorts are always sublime and every need is considered. Our Butler Damian was wonderful and assisted us with reservations and outside excursions as we requested. The landscaping at Palmilla is wonderful and pristine. The bed sleeps very well and the pool chairs are amazing. The one thing I have noticed at this resort like last time is the limited food options. Breakfast seems to be the best meal and most flavorful. Everything else seems bland and for the price you would expect better tasting food. The food is edible but there was not one meal that blew me away. Also, the adult pool area could play some kind of atmospheric music. It was way too quiet. Make sure to use the spa services and foot massage by the pool but beware that the spa prices are more expensive than getting fillers in Beverly Hills lol.

This hotel is one of the worst experiences I have received when it comes to this level of fine luxury hotel expectations. Compared to Aman or Six Senses resorts, this one falls short by far. We have stayed multiple times at Aman resorts and we wanted to give One&Only a try because we know the prestige that the hotel brand has. Unfortunately, it is not worth visiting at all and I am at awe at how bad it was. The hotel resort itself was very beautiful, but the service is very amateur and more like a 3 star quality. They were not very good at communicating certain things to guests. The personal host/butler did not live up to the expectations, and at times were very delayed at responding (Perla was ok, but Isaac was baaad). They are very delayed and sloppy with housekeeping as they do it super late where it's very inconvenient to the guest. On the day we played golf at the One&Only golf course, we left the room at 6:50am and the host should've known to let the housekeepers know to clean ours early. When we came back to the room around 10am, the room was not clean yet. So at 11am, we decide to get lunch and come back around 1pm, and the housekeeper is STILL in the middle of cleaning. I had to kindly ask her to leave but she didn't speak English so she kept cleaning while I had to take my work call. It was awkward and uncomfortable but I didn't have a choice. Another thing that got me so frustrated was that they had employees who are not actually bartenders behind the bar who do not know where the liquor bottles are nor can they identify what a Clase Azul Tequila Reposado is from the Añejo (which is odd, because this is in Mexico). We tried to order a glass of the Clase Azul Añejo and the poor guy couldn't find it when it was right in front of him. He also got a glass full of small ice cubes when he needed to have the big cube for an expensive glass of tequila. When I asked him for bigger ice, he said no we don't have. How can you not have that kind of ice when you have expensive liquor?? Oh I can name a lot more things that went wrong but it'll take too long to write now. We were so disappointed, we would never come back here. I would advise anyone who want to go to an ultra luxury 5 star resort, to not go here or any One&Only resorts, because your money and your time would be wasted.
