Araucaria Hotel & Spa

Stayed at Araucaria with my family to ski in La Plagne. The location is absolutely fantasy location for skiing, the meeting point and several ski lifts are about 100m away from the hotel. The ski shop within the hotel was very well priced, and had great equipment for beginners like us. The breakfast at the hotel was very good. The family rooms were large and comfortable for a family with two young kids. The hotel's spa was excellent with an adults and kids pool, along with a sauna/steam room/ice room. Perfect after a long day of hitting the slopes. The recreation centre was especially fabulous for the kids with board games, arcades, a movie area and a nice relaxing area for adults. Overall, it is an excellent hotel for young families. I would highly recommend it.

We booked a last minute trip to get the last of the season’s snow and couldn’t have been more delighted. The hotel is true ski in ski out. I didn’t realise they have their own ski hire so we wasted time traipsing into the village. My boots didn’t fit properly but I got new boots at the hotel expertly fitted. The rooms are functional and clean and the views are amazing. I was really impressed with the quality and diversity of the food. Huge array to suit my palate (pulses, salads, roasted veg etc). My son would have liked more slabs of meat which was duly served on our last night. The spa is wonderful. Staff really friendly too. Oh and the skiing was amazing. Good dump of snow and beautiful slopes for intermediates. We went away at February and overpaid for a mediocre place that said it was ski in ski out and wasn’t and was so huge it was overwhelmed with people.

Araucaria was in a great location and has a super bar area, large and interesting enough to keep everyone happy. Rooms were pretty small and hot. Staff helpful and Spa perfect after a busy days skiing.

You pay for a 4 stars hôtel but service is only à 3 stars level. Standard room very small without hangers cupboard. Food is a standard buffet without refined cooking. Spa is good. Staff in Skiroom service is very good and kind

My husband and I have just returned from this gorgeous hotel. What can I say ? It exceeded all expectations. The room was one of the smaller ones but absolutely fine for us. The power shower was just what we needed to wake us up in the mornings. The spa was perfect. A good sized pool with infinity wave. The hammam and sauna were rarely too busy and the aromatic shower and ice bath added a lovely touch. Robes and slippers in the room was much appreciated and a nice touch. The bar area was huge and very modern with lots of little extras like free hot drinks all day, pool table, live music on some nights and comfy seating. The bar staff were knowledgeable and the cocktail specials were great. I recommend the Ginger Passion. Again, nuts and tapas were served alongside drinks. The food was amazing and such a huge choice. Every possible option and combination was available and it was cooked and served beautifully. At breakfast it was so hard to decide what to have each morning. From freshly squeezed oranges, pancakes, cooked and cold meats and delicious pastries. Too big a choice to list everything. The evening meal was a choice of the special meat, fish or cheese dish and then another huge buffet to choose from. The desserts were unbelievable and it was hard not to overeat each day. The staff were very helpful, friendly and attentive. And just finish, the ski in, ski out is just that which makes the end of a busy day skiing so much easier. The ski room was occasionally a little busy but not unmanageable and the staff were so helpful, carrying skis up and down the steps to the door for us. I would definitely recommend this hotel for couples, families and groups and will probably be returning next year. We travelled with a tour operator for ease but booking directly is easy and they offer transfers from Moutiers train station if you take the ski train from England.
