Flipflop Cala Romántica Hotel

Smelling really bad. We have complained for the smell and they told us is because of the mold and they said that we have to pay 20 euros for deposit to use the A/C remote and it will get better. Pictures are deceiving. Dangerous to stay. Not clean. A lot of mosquitos inside room. Not even close to a three star hotel.

Beautiful setting on a lovely beach we really enjoyed our stay The staff were friendly and food was good Our accommodation was dated but clean we had 3 rooms in what the girls called a tree house we had asked to be situated together and we were We were half way up the hill which was manageable but some would struggle if further up but a car from reception would take you back and forth if needed The pool area was clean and bar and snack bar were next to the pool the pool opened at 10 am which stopped people reserving sun beds brilliant idea ! and the lifeguards stopped people eating round the pool which was good as stopped mess and insects The entertainment team worked hard and a variety of things to do We had a great time and would definitely return Thank you all at the Flipflop Romántica

We arrived late at night after almost 2 hr transfer, we were last drop off with 8 others before us, tired hungry, staff at reception opened restaurant and we were able to eat,we where taken to our accommodation by car,accommodation a bit dated but clean, plenty hot water,was cold at night but it was early in season, in daylight we were pleasantly surprised, woodland surroundings are beautiful, the beach was right outside main restaurant complex was lovely, sheltered safe to swim,however is a private beach and sunbeds were 15 euro for day,30 euro per day a bit much, but there are plenty of sunbeds at pool area,food and drinks and entertainment, staff all helpful and friendly, we took excursion to Caves of Drac,don't book with hotel, you can get local bus outside 3 Euro,15 min journey and pay at Caves 17 Euro,as opposed to 50 Euro charge if you book with hotel, Porto Cristo is a short 15 min walk from.Caves,it's pretty with a harbour, not crowde,visited Sunday Market. Food was good as we went all inclusive, local booze but plenty of it, myself and my granddaughter enjoyed our stay,I would visit again ,transfer back to airport was only 1 hour,we didn't have as many pick ups .

Just returned from the hotel after spending a few days out here. Overall, we were really impressed with the hotel and what it offers. The hotel is right on the beach and has restaurants, a bar and a place you can book boat trips. The hotel itself has a shop, a main restaurant and snack area next to the pools so everything you need is there. If you wanted to get out and explore, a bus stop is nearby to explore Porto cristo or anywhere else you'd like to go if you have time. The food was great with a variety each day. They do have some signs next to the food for allergies/intolerances but not on all so be wary and check with staff if you have any. It meant for me I couldn't really have any sweet treats as they all had milk in. They have activities around the pool and opposite the pool area (other side of road) we saw some tortoises! So look out for them. The only thing that we were disappointed in was our room. It was quite small and my bed was very hard, I think it was actually broken. The bathroom was a good size but we found lots of insects when we entered our room so make sure your room is fully cleaned. There isn't a fridge in the room we had, and I'd recommended taking an hairdryer as the one there wasn't good. Some of the other rooms did look really nice so I felt we got a little unlucky with our room. The staff are all very friendly, with the exception of one female receptionist who was quite rude and not very helpful. She failed to inform us, even when we asked, that you need to book a time slot for another room to use for showers if you check out of your hotel room but your transfer isn't until the afternoon/evening. So make sure you do that so you have a chance to freshen up before you leave. Ruben at reception was very helpful and patient with everyone and their queries. I'd definitely return though to this hotel and location and we had lovely weather.

Firstly, I know there have been some negative reviews on this hotel and not going to lie, I didn’t know what to expect after reading them. Well I have to say, I don’t know what people expect from a 3 star resort but I can honestly say it was the most pleasant 5 days away that I have spent. I went away with my mum and we just wanted a few days to switch off and this is what this resort offers. The room was cleaned, fresh towels daily, very friendly staff and the food was great! There is also a shop on sight for food, gifts, etc which was v handy as there isn’t much in the area. The location is right on the beautiful Cala Romantica and it was great being able to walk onto the beach from the hotel. The only thing I would say is if you had mobility issues, it might be a struggle as the little bungalows go from 1 to 600, with 1 being closest to the reception and restaurant. We were lucky as we were at no 48 and we were close to the pool and snack bar. If you were to book and have mobility issues, I would contact the hotel firstly and see if they could put you in a closer location bungalow. They also have an onsite free taxi service, who will take you from the reception to your room. Had the best stay and would highly recommend to anyone!

We booked a last minute getaway on a budget and we were very happy with our all inclusive deal. Had we paid full price, it might have put a different slant on it. The hotel is in a stunning location, right next to a beautiful beach. Rooms are set on a hill in small clusters that feel more like chalets. They’re nestled into the woodland and feel quite private. However, they are quite tired but ours was clean on arrival and we had a huge terrace, so we forgave that. Guests who have mobility issues should definitely mention it when they book. There is a shuttle service but you might have to wait a bit at busy times. If you’re situated at the top of the hill, it’s a challenging walk with lots of steps. The main building contained the reception, shop, bar and entertainment area, main restaurant and large outside terrace seating area overlooking the beach. It felt a bit like a holiday camp to be honest and the evening entertainment was similar. The pool area is in between the main building and rooms and was really nice. The larger pool was frequented by families and the smaller one, mainly adults. There were plenty of beds and had a covered restaurant and separate bar area. We really enjoyed our time here. The staff were super friendly and very polite and there was the usual poolside entertainment at both pools. What let this hotel down was the food and a few minor things that could be addressed easily…. If you do fancy a break from the disappointing selection, there’s a fantastic restaurant across the beach. And… if you’re a tea drinker, take your own! PS: head straight to the gate once through security at the airport. There is a second passport control that takes a long time to get though if you have kids

Having read the reviews before we visited this hotel I was concerned about what we had booked. However we arrived on the 6th October and what we found was beautiful grounds that were kept very clean, lovely pool area, albeit the pools were a little cold and right on a beautiful beach. The accommodation was dated but very clean. Unfortunately we was right at the top of the hill, but the taxis that are laid on for free are hugely efficient. We ate in the restaurant all week as we went all inclusive and there was a good variety of food all week. The biggest downside was the flies. I would recommend taking a spray as we was bitten a lot. All in all a lovely place and I would go again.

Let's start with the worrying reviews. The reception staff are welcoming but obviously have limited English but they also have to cater for multiple nationalities and so probably learn the basics. We got by with no problems. You do not have to pay extra for air conditioning, you do however need to leave a twenty Euro deposit for the remote control, I can see why, they are expensive things to replace. We got our deposit back, with no issues at all. To save on recycling and waste, you can get a token which can be exchanged for a hard plastic cup for all your drinks. Every time you're finished, exchange the cup for your token and repeat the cycle. We took our own plastic beakers and so we had no problem. The complex is spread out over a fear radius. Don't worry if you're assigned a room on the outskirts. There is a free taxi service that will take you to your room and you get given a number to WhatsApp if you need picking up. We walked, most of the time. If you have mobility issues, they will do their best to place you near the main amenities. The rooms are basic and probably could do with a refresher but then they would probably be able to charge a lot more than we paid for a week's break. That would put this hotel, out of our price budget. Yes the TV's have minimal British channels, we were not there to watch TV and spent the time in our rooms to shower and change, or sleep. The maids do there best but it is clear that they do get two days off a week and will not replace towels every day. And to be fair, we do not replace our towels or bedding every day at home either, so what's the difference. The stunning beach is a 100 meters from the main restaurant building and is stunning. The beds cost 15.50 Euro per day (for two beds). We didn't go every day and so this was a nice treat for us. If you have done all inclusive before, you'll know what to expect. Food is average, but we always found something that we enjoyed. The entertainment staff work hard all day and try their best with probably a very limited budget. It's up to us all to find the best in what the situation is. Sometimes the most basic of entertainment can also be the funniest. Some of the entertainment was brilliantly funny, because it was not going as it should have done. Going back to the size of the place. If you are lucky enough to be at the top of the complex (up the step hill), then you can walk up to the back entrance and turn left. There you will find the stop for the land train that for 5 euro per adult, you can ride to Porto Cristo and back. Or you can go out the main entrance of the hotel and there is another stop for the same service. We picked this hotel for the stunning beach and because the little rooms are all spaced in a way to try and optimise the privacy. We would definitely go back BUT everyone has their own opinions and I would say that any visitors should make up their own mind.
