I booked this hostel and pre-paid originally as it is the best priced accommodation via most online booking platforms. The staff who I think are foreign volunteers speak Spanish and Portuguese (not English, though, at their other hostel there is a French volunteer who also speaks English) and are all really friendly. The aesthetic of this place is really nice, though upon check-in (and after 4 days on an Amazon boat) there was a palaver regarding my booking as the owner via phone said I hadn't paid and that they don't allow pre pay options through booking platforms etc. I was right of course and they had made a mistake, and it was, regardless of my good mood, a pretty poor welcome. The garden area is really nice and the entire place was comfortable and clean with AC in the room and hot water in the showers. Laundry was available for 30R and a modest breakfast also for an extra fee. The WiFi, however, was really bad and didn't work in the room or well at all in the garden, only by the front desk. As such I left after 2 days and am now in a central big hotel with a private room, swimming pool, gym and included breakfast, for only 10R more...so I really cant see the point in booking any hostel in Manaus for the prices charged.
