Fairfield Inn & Suites Memphis East/Galleria

I got to replace 2 side windows for spending the night here. There are at least 2 other cars hit the same night. The staff did not seem to be that surprised… The hotel itself had an unpleasant smell. Maintenance seemed to be lacking all the way around.

Booked this room for my friend who was driving late. Chaos and bugs. Roach in his bed in the morning. Black spider ran across his foot in the shower. Front desk checked him in late at night to 2nd floor but the elevator wasn't working(!) so handed him a 1st floor room key...but didn't change the room in the system, which resulted in chaos in the morning with his credit card. I read elsewhere that this location might be set for full renovation summer 2024, so if you're reading this after then, check for new property photos. Hopefully cleaning staff and front desk rigorous training. Marriott is asleep at the wheel for now...

Terrible lighting, no hot water mold in bathroom, itchy sheets and used towels. The icing on the cake a wake up call and entering of room by housekeeping before 9 am when check out is 11. Front desk unmanned was told by one employee that they were working Spring Hill across the parking lot.

We have stayed here before but won't be staying again. The property is getting very run down and the staff less than hospitable. After a long day in the car we were looking forward to soaking in the hot tub for a few minutes, but the hot tub was drained. No mention of the hot tub being closed on the website. The towels in the room are very thin and worn. The room and bathroom were clean, which is why we rated higher because cleanliness is important and many places have mold in the bathroom, whereas our room did not. Major kudos to the housekeeping staff, which by the way were very friendly and greeted us in the morning while we were walking down the hallway to breakfast. The rooms also come equipped with a nice size fridge and a microwave which is convenient, but there isn't a luggage rack in the rooms. We got downstairs for breakfast at 8 and the scrambled eggs were almost out. My daughter and I had small portions but there wasn't anymore so my husband was unable to have any. They never replenished the entire hour as the staff responsible was too busy sitting and looking at her phone. The trash was overflowing and she didn't bother with that either. There are many options in this area for lodging so I would recommend staying somewhere other than the Fairfield.

I expected more from a Marriott hotel. The hotel was shabby & dingy with broken, dirty tiles in the bathroom, & trash scattered all around the outside of the building. There was a big bin full of trash in one of the stairwells. When I went down for coffee at 6:00 am, the desk clerk asked what kind of vehicle we were driving & where we were parked. Our vehicle had been broken into & items stolen. The police were already in the parking lot working on the report. According to one of the police officers, there had been 50 vehicle break ins in the area early that morning, & that this was not an uncommon occurrence. There are several Marriott brand hotels in the area so it would seem that Marriott management could do something about security in the parking lots.

When we arrived it was raining and lightning was extraordinary and quite nearby; however there was no covered Portechere so we unloaded in the cold rain. The room thermostat was set at 61 degrees and was blowing like a fierce north wind. The toilet did not flush. The television did not work. The coffee maker did not work. We called the front desk about the toilet and they sent a man who sent another man who had to replace a part. He also fixed the television, which had been hooked up backwards. We thanked him as he was leaving. Oddly the toilet still didn’t flush We were across the hall from the exercise room which purportedly closed at 11pm. Precisely at 11:58, the television was turned up loud and a cadre of women, one of whom, ( the loudest and bossiest one- I suspect was a hotel employee), invaded the space. As the television was so loud no reasonable conversation could be had in the room. I gleen they had come to watch the Grizzlies and the GS Warriors basketball game, so I knew the furor would cease if the Warriors won, which they did decidedly, thus eliminating any postgame celebration. The toilet did not flush. As far as I know, it still doesn’t. One star for this establishment is stretching the point. There are several brand new hotels within walking distance. We do not recommend this one.

We checked in quite late at the property but the checkin experience was smoot. The room assigned was on first floor near an exit door, so loading and unloading was convenient. The room was reasonably sized and bed was comfortable. The bathroom was clean and the property was well maintained. Parking being free, was a plus.

My son and I had the pleasure of staying 3 nights at this property. Our room was clean, and the breakfast was hot and tasty. The staff was polite and extremely helpful. I plan to stay at this location on my next trip!
