Honeymoon Nightmare!
Been a regular for close to 30 years, kenya being my second home as a foreigner; Voyager was my go to place in mombasa.
Being recently married in Korea, I highly recommended Voyager to my wife and at the end felt so sorry to my wife...
1. I had sent an email to Voyager asking for a special preparation for the rooms: flowers on the bed with a juice box not wine because she is pregnant and they replied that all is confirmed; check in at 12pm.
Result: I arrived past 12pm, rooms still not prepared...therefore I decided to have lunch and come back, expecting it to all be ready to surprise my wife...
After lunch as soon as we arrived the room, nothing prepared! Basic amenity such as water bottles not available until the next day when I asked for them. Wifi and cell signal is so bad that couldn't use the phone whatsoever.....the more expensive "SEAVIEW" room was blocked by palm tree leaves so NO view at all...
I camly asked the reception about why nothing was done? And the manager I presume lady with glasses: NO apology and just ok we shall do it lmao....
Dining: Food quality has really dropped....the most shocking part....
I can't explain it here cause just speechless how high quality diverse buffet has become dull no variety and local food...
Past: you would arrive at the entrance of the restaurant, then an attendant would come greet you and take you to your seat....
Present: No attendant, you just sit wherever you want... after eating some salad, went to get main course and come back to see another kenyan guest sitting at our table using my utensils ( that I used! ) and FYI my bag was on the seat where he was sitting...left with no apology ...leaving me feel real ridiculous!
Waiters & Servers: look grumpy and when asked for something have an attitude of annoyance...oh! Unless your a WHITE ! again LMAO ! BTW in the morning was not served coffee unless I asked for it? Which was not the norm in the past.
Dinner: The papers you are handed at check in, states you are suppose to wear (men) long pants and no slippers or sandals( beachwear ), guess what again lol many guests are wearing beach pants or shorts with flip flops! In the past they were told to go back and change but no~ no one cares! Hah
PS. Had most my meals out of the hotel, eventhough I paid for breakfast and dinner....
I had enough of my honeymoon being destroyed and went to the reception and had a good chat with the Front manager: GEORGE.
I explained how I was disappointed and stated Voyager has become such an absurd standard hotel?!
Well he apologized and that night I saw immediate changes where there is an attendant at the entrance who took us to our seats and waiters asking us how the meal was(it was so obvious that they were told to keep an eye on us lol)
BUT next day. ..the same awful routine back to the way it was...
In the end there is no point!
Voyager, I understand Covid was hard on you but other hotels have suffered too and they are still doing their best to keep their standards (Hotel near you) unlike you guys....
Thanks for the awful honeymoon and no apology.
Also reception treating us as strangers as soon as we checked out with no farewells or asking about our stay.
Never coming back!
