Great little gem in centre of Newark, stopped for 2 nights, room 2: nice and clean, well equipped, nice and warm room for this time of year. Safe car park, can't comment on breakfast as we didn't have it. Lovely friendly family hosts, definitely would recommend

Room quiet + warm got everything we needed . Great fluffy white towels + plenty off them Brilliant breakfast with coffee + juice included and lots of choices from a large menu + eggs cooked as you like bacon + blackpudding + sausages by Paul followed by homemade jam with local bread

Stopped off here on our drive from Stansted to Glasgow. Great room rate, especially if you book directly on their site (Save £5 parking fee that is included with online booking sites) Food was absolutely amazing and all very fresh and home made. Not the cheapest meals but you will certainly appreciate what you are paying for. Just fabulous Small room 4 but it had everything you could want, and hey,,we were only sleeping in it. Its and old 18th century coaching in but has been beautifully renovated and many points of interest in the buildings features.

Colleague stayed and I joined for dinner. Lovely to establishment, friendly, clean. Food was excellent, highly recommend the pies. The room was quaint and lots of tiny details that you would not get from a chain. Down to actual wine glasses and decent size tea mugs for a cuppa in the morning. Fresh cookies, a fridge. Homely touches. I did not stay but colleague was happy and comfortable in the room. Shower was surprisingly powerful and much needed after a 4 hour drive. Highly recommend this lovely find and will be staying myself if I have the chance to be this way again. Newark, though clearly suffering as so many towns these days, has a lovely town square and I was lucky to be here on market day. Though not a tourist destination lots of local small businesses and coffee shops to support rather than the usual bigger chains which are also here. #theBean&Vine good coffee and cake.

Lovely family run hotel. Beds comfy,everywhere clean,superb breakfast. My favorite hotel in this area Staff friendly and helpful Good size room. Very quiet even though on main road Not a problem to us but if you have mobility issues stairs would be steep. No lift in historic building naturally

Not sure what to expect when we booked, looked like a small old fashioned city centre hotel on a busy junction. We were passing through and needed a stopover. So pleased we found this place, which was cosy, comfortable and quirky. Our room was out the back in the courtyard, which was fine. The family run the hotel (mother front of house, son in kitchen) and sort of made it all work with great charm. It may have been a bit haphazard but you could feel the warmth and care for the guests. The food was good, the speciality pies a real treat, and the portions very generous. Great beer on tap. Bedroom was plain but comfortable and quiet, had a good night’s sleep. Fresh milk in a fridge for the morning coffee was a nice touch.
