Our room was ready when we arrived around 2 hours early and we appreciated this but, we had requested a lower main floor room and the check in front counter female employee stated that there was no room available on this floor and I did not make a big deal about it but, I had made this reservation about a week ahead of time. IHG sent this facility an email stating our request. Usually they accommodate but, I did not see anyone in the facility at my check in time and only a few cars in the parking lot. I was not explained why not available. She placed us on the second floor, which was alright, but it was almost at the end of the hallway and not even near the elevator. She could've at least asked if we wanted to be near the elevator as there is a reason, we wanted a lower floor as our health issue and age. She did thank me for being a Silver Elite Member, no water was given or asked if I wanted one. Maybe HIE does not do this anymore since this was the third HIE that I have been at in the past three days that did not offer any water. She told me about breakfast and stated that there was an issue with their oven that was broken and if we wanted a hot meal then the Hotel across the parking lot would work with them to serve a hot meal to all HIE customers. Cold items were available. You need an oven to cook eggs and sausage, toast or use the pancake machine, etc...? Why wouldn't you call an emergency repair person in to repair it? If I had known this during the reservation, then I would have reserved at another Hotel due to who wants their family to go across the street in the freezing cold to eat when we are paying for this service at HIE that we are staying at? This is why, more than likely, they do not tell you this as why people would avoid staying here, I am sure. We now must deal with how many more customers at the hotel across the parking lot to obtain our breakfast. HIE should give us a discount for this inconvenience and not push us to another Hotel to get it. There is only one elevator in this facility for the entire place for 4 floors. You must use it with everyone, including all the workers. There was worker in the elevator at the same time as us one time we were using the elevator that was talking about work related issues with another person and he had no shoes on and was barefoot. Safety is not a concern here with their workers. Also, when using the door key, it would not let us in our room due to a malfunction as the light did turn green when I slid in the key card, I called the front desk, and the male employee told me to pull the door handle down twice after it turns green. What for? Nobody told me about this when accepting our room. I went to try what he said, but it worked without having to pull down the door handle twice. It is a malfunctioning issue at times and needs to be fixed. I have never had this issue before at any HIE. The bathroom was clean but once again there was no exhaust fan as the bathroom
