Bay Inn Hotel

I recently stayed at The Bay Inn and was thoroughly impressed. The room was quaint, exuding a cozy charm that made me feel right at home. The cute courtyard added a delightful touch to the experience—perfect for enjoying a morning coffee or winding down in the evening.The location was unbeatable, putting me within easy reach of everything I wanted to explore. Best of all, it offered terrific value, making it a top choice for anyone looking for quality without breaking the bank. Highly recommend!

After reading other reviews, and noticing a common occurrence with the man that runs this place. We drove 7 1/2 hrs to this place, and while waiting for our other family member who made the booking… the man came out and rudely asked if we needed something. We told him we were waiting, and that we had 2 rooms reserved. He said no, because we had 5 people? Didn’t realize you couldn’t have more than 2 in a room, which was never in their description of the policy online. Instead of handling it professionally, he told us with an attitude he was canceling our rooms. This place has terrible customer service, and gives off a very sketchy unsafe vibe. We went to a name brand hotel after this, where I feel safe and welcomed. Don’t need the response from the inn to try and apologize or cover up this unprofessionalism. I recommended reading the other bad/ scary reviews, before even thinking about this place. Not family recommended. Do not book through *******.

Needed a low cost overnight stay while attending the NAS Oceana air show and selected The Bay Inn based on cost and the positive reviews. Also considered the negative reviews and was impressed by the response of the owner - both the willingness to respond and the content of the response. This is quiet, no-frills lodging. the room was clean and neat. Offered the necessary amenities of wi-fi, TV and toiletries. Saw many complaints about the bed, ours was perfect. If you are seeking a quiet, family oriented place to stay with beach access (across the street), then The Bay Inn would be a great low cost choice. It is our new go-to when staying overnight in the Virginia Beach/Norfolk area.

While booking our room there was a special request area on the website, I advised them that our arrival time would be rather late. Within a few minutes I had an email from them assuring me that it would not be a problem. Very comforting response. They were very welcoming upon our arrival, our room was neat, clean and comfortable. The air conditioner was already on so our room temperature was comfortable. The bed was comfortable. The center courtyard was a pleasant place to relax. We were looking for an independent small place, and we scored on this one. We would definitely stay there again.

Man who picks up the phone after hours is very rude, I tried to book for a night and he just said no and hung up..very odd interaction If you plan to stay here just book online because the old man just seems done trying to do customer service even though it was his choice to work there.

DO NOT STAY HERE. This place is terrible, the rooms smell like mildew with a heavy sprinkling of air freshner on top, the owners are not nice, the place is as basic as can be . Literally they put a fresh coat of paint and some fake wood floors down and they charge close to $200 night. Better off staying at a major chain (which I had tried to avoid). The first room they gave us hardly had a window. When I asked for a different room they didn't want to move us. To their credit they DID move us, but the 2nd room smelled so bad and I hardly slept because the bed was so uncomfortable.

We were in Norfolk to meet with relatives who were staying a mile away. My husband first drove past the motel. I made the reservation. We parked out front and he questioned "Here?" I told him "Yes." We checked in and he was still skeptical (prior military). We got to our room and we both were pleasantly surprised. Obviously, the room had been remodeled recently and much more spacious than I expected. It was CLEAN and everything was orderly. The bed was comfortable; not the very best, but not bad at all. There was no bathtub (do not need) and the shower was great! I read reviews of low water pressure, but I did not experience that at all. The bathroom has the toilet and the huge shower. The sink is in the vanity just outside the bathroom door. I found out the gentleman (Mick) who checked us in and was so very helpful is the owner. He told us of restaurants where we could eat. We needed ice and he no longer has an ice machine, but explained the Harris Teeter grocery store is close by. The only downfall is the parking is in the rear and berries fell on the car from the fruit trees. Mick was AWESOME, he hosed the berries off our car. Stay here and you will like it too. We stayed 2 nights and I will definitely stay here when we visit again.

Not long after checking in we went to the courtyard and we met an older couple. We were in courtyard quietly listening to music. We’re told music is not allowed. I asked very nicely if after turning it down would that be okay? I was ABRUPTLY told “my house my rules”. So I turned it off. My wife then asked a question and the clerk (owner, not really sure who he was) started arguing with my wife about his rules. This is not how I’m used to being treated as a customer of an establishment. Therefore, I packed my belongings and turned in my keys. He told me that was probably a good idea that I left his property. At that point, I was thoroughly disgusted, I booked another hotel room at another hotel and left the establishment as the biggest disrespected customer ever. Even the gentleman that was in the courtyard with us was so embarrassed by the “owners” behavior that he left the property. I have never been so disrespected and embarrassed by an establishment. And by the way, they don’t ask for your tag info. So must not be a very safe parking area. No record of your car even being there. The beds are just mattresses, no box-spring and it is maybe 4 inches deep. NOT comfortable at all. Did I mention we were not even there for two hours. DON’T Waste your money 💰. You will be DISAPPOINTED .

The location is EXCELLENT A few steps away from the beach The grounds are IMMACULATE Very clean and tidy. The amenities are PLENTIFUL Pillows linens and toiletries and a refrigerator and coffee maker with tea as well. The climate control is perfect
