Maxwell Del Mar Hotel

I recently returned from a week at this charming hotel. I chose it based on the previous reviews so many thanks to those travellers for their entries. My initial impression after the lovely receptionist showed me to my room was, “this is great, it’s like staying at a friend’s house where there is a super guest suite.” The previous five-star reviews are all accurate as is the information on the hotel’s website. I am a female baby boomer and was travelling solo as my husband was unable to join me during this, my fourth, visit to Barbados. I just had to have a week away from the U.K. winter. The Maxwell del Mar was the perfect choice. I felt safe and secure at all times at this hotel and in this neighbourhood. Everything works. Staff are professional and very friendly. Talented professionals in the kitchen and all the delicious food is made from scratch. Very good selection on the menu. Breakfast is included and it was always first-rate. The rum punch served up by Hal, the experienced barman, is the best I’ve ever had. The hotel has been renovated to a very high standard. The level of cleanliness is excellent. The bed was very comfortable and the linen and towels top quality. I was so impressed with the walk-in shower in my room as no water made its way to the bathroom floor. (This is not always the case even in five-star establishments). Yes, it’s on the main road and traffic can be noisy but none of the rooms face the road and you cannot hear traffic whilst indoors. This is offset by the convenience of having the bus stop right outside. This is not a criticism but I was in room 102 which I liked very much but I think it could be somewhat cramped for two guests as most of the room is taken up by the king size bed. I took a look at other rooms and they are more spacious. I am delighted to recommend this hotel to fellow travellers. Booked this hotel for our first trip to Barbados and glad we did. On the plus side, it's only 20 mins from the airport, a short stroll to the beach and bus stop, walking distance to restaurants and to St Lawrence Gap. It's a short bus ride to Bridgetown in one direction and to Oistins (which is not to be missed on a Friday!) on the other. The hotel also has a small restaurant which offers breakfast and lunch but if you fancy a takeaway, the room also has a kettle, microwave and a small fridge/freezer. Rooms are clean and spacious; staff are efficient and friendly. Had a good chat with Hal who makes his own rum punch. On the negative side, noise could be an issue as the hotel is on the main road. It bothered us on the first night but eventually, got used to it. Accommodation in Barbados is not cheap but we found this good value hotel. Hopefully, we can go again!

I stayed at this hotel for a short time and I’m pleased and happy to say that I enjoyed it Didn’t has an issue with anything other then that there wasn’t any housekeeping…but I really enjoyed my stay the staff was great I can’t remember their names but big shoutout to the redskin lady at the restaurant and the young man at the front office they made me stay a remarkable one. I’ll definitely be coming back next year with friends and we are going to be staying there I love it was really sad that I had to leave and I didnt get to say goodbye to them but I love them ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ see you next year February or march 🩷🩷🇧🇧🇧🇧❤️❤️❤️

I haven't had any self-care time since before covid, and this was the ideal place for it. This is a beautiful place that is easily accessible by public transportation. There are lovely rooms with large king or queen beds, air conditioning, and a television with channels. Clean. Friendly staff. The food is great, very large potions had to get a take away container, the prices are reasonable.

Passes this place a few times but thought it was just a nice looking hotel .one day we saw a sign that it was a cafe and bar so went in. What a lovely fresh clean place and nicely decorated and very cool with all the window shutters open and fans on. The service was great and the food even better. Well presented and tasted great. It looked to have a well stocked bar too. Could do with a better sign placed better to attract more custom as it was one of the better places we visited for food .
