It is not easy to maintain a heritage building but Savoy hotel, being nearly two hundred years old, manages it well.It is impressively decorated, clean and relaxing We stayed in one of the little villas ,effectively a small suite There is a wonderful cloistered area to walk around looking out on well manintained grounds that have a variety of subtropical or Mediterranean plants given the height above sea level There are some mild limitations ,we could not work our TV,the doorway into bedroom is not for overly tall people ( bend head to avoid injury) and thankfully a bathmat is provided to prevent slipping The hotel will provide a lit fire for an hour or two if they can be assured it is supervised—I am not sure that many people might manage this nowadays The bar menu is moderately extensive .The staff are unobtrusive 8n manner but welcoming in nature It is a very fine hotel and a great contrast to the excessive or unsustainable tourism to Ooty, which is overly busy ,noisy, etc
