Booked an accessible room for 9/30/2024. I had stroke last year, and while working hard at recovery, not there yet and have some physical limitations. Upon arrival, was informed that elevators were inoperable and no rooms available on the first floor. While I can manage stairs with difficulty, I can not carry an overnight bag and climb stairs at the same time. I informed front desk clerk of same, and she had no solution other than to give me a post it note with names and numbers of 3 area hotels. It was approximately 7pm and, after calling the first hotel on the list (Hampton Inn) who was very helpful in trying to assist, it became apparent there was no vacancies in the immediate or surrounding areas. There was neither care or concern nor any offer of assistance to resolve an issue by staff at Fairfield Inn for a problem that I clearly did not cause If elevators are out, maybe contacting those requesting accessible rooms in advance to advise of situation would be something to consider. I have never requested an accessible room before and I hope for a full recovery to become able bodied again. I certainly hope this not the way we treat the permanently disabled people in this country.
