We stayed in the Thalna Suite--really a guest house separate from the main villa. There were two couples on the trip. We enjoyed the privacy of the Thalna Suite and the ample space for relaxing in the great room. The setting could not have been more lovely--rolling hills, expansive vistas of the surrounding countryside, and a just-baled hay field behind the property. The bedrooms were kind of small, but adequate. The bed linens were very luxurious, offering a good night's rest. The great room had seating, a nice table and chairs, and a kitchen with some essential tools. It would be a perfect place for a getaway, long weekend, or retreat. The service was excellent. Ilora was extremely responsive in correspondence before our visit and with issues that arose while we were there. Laura was our host in the dining room and she infused that experience with her comfortable manner and desire to make our stay the best possible. We ate breakfast each morning of our stay. The continental breakfast offerings were fresh and delicious. Italian "cake" is more like an American "tart," and it felt particularly decadent to have gorgeous apricot, cherry, and berry "cake" for breakfast. For an additional cost, one could order eggs, bacon, and omelettes. We had one lunch on property, which was served al fresco. I had a delicioius panzanella salad with fresh veggies and a delightful, light, citrus dressing. Another entree was a cheese lasagna that boasted the thinnest lasagna noodles I've ever seen. The resort is removed from Orvieto by about 30 minutes on some pretty narrow, winding roads. It was perfect for us to attend a wedding at a nearby property and easy to get into Orvieto for some sightseeing and shopping with a rental car. A taxi would have been about 40 euros, one way. We would stay at this resort in a heartbeat if we visit Umbria again.
