The best part about this hotel is the staff. The owners, Steve & Alejandra, are there most of the time & that gives it a more homey, friendly feeling. The beds are comfortable, the beach is 1 block away, the restaurant is great - I really enjoyed my stay.

LOVED all the vibes at this hotel, from its location to guest services to its aesthetic. Location: It’s close to everything: bars, food, ice cream and transportation, and literally a block away from the beach, you can’t beat that. On the same block just a few doors down you can grab tacos from Tio Noys which is open pretty late. A little further away is Dona Paula’s but we called it Abuelas. Literally everything on their menu is fire. ALSO nearby is the ADO bus station where you can get a bus ticket back to Cancun airport for relatively cheap. I rode the bus by myself at 4 in the morning and had no issues Guest services: All the staff were incredibly nice and accessible through WhatsApp. Leticia helped me check in and she was amazing. My sis and her family arrived earlier than me and said that Beto, another staff member made recommendations for them to visit and we had the best time at the beach he suggested! Aesthetic. Loved all the vibes here. All the detail in the decor to the bathroom, the murals, terracotta and ceramic floors. It just felt so homey and welcoming. I don’t have trouble sleeping with noise so I had no issues but my sis had her mother in law with her and she had trouble sleeping due to music and people from all the clubs nearby. Again, I had no issues and slept like a baby. Hasta luego Playa!

This is a beautiful and charming, small boutique hotel just steps away from the main shopping and restaurant Road. Close enough, but yet quiet enough. The architecture and old world charm was amazing. The staff and manager were kind and helpful. I loved my room. I felt like I was, and then old Mexican Hacienda. The air conditioning worked fabulous and the bed was so cozy. We often come through playa Carmen on our way to Cozumel and we would stay here over and over.

I stayed seven nights while having some dental work done in Playa del Carmen. The hotel was great, especially for the price. Alberto and the staff are nice to deal with and the restaurant is excellent with a good staff and manager. My room was interior with no outside window, but it was a good room with a comfortable bed. The AC worked great. During my visit, there was no wifi in my room, but this was a city-wide problem after an unusual week of constant rain that damaged many wifi modems/routers, causing repair backups. I could, however, go down to the restaurant, which had one that worked well. One reason I chose Hotel Cielo was for its styling. It is more traditional tropical Mexican, where so many other hotels in Playa tend toward resort or ultra-modern looks. I like all the saltillo tile, plants, and balconies, etc. This hotel is just barely off the Quinta Avenida, or 5th Street pedestrian road with all the shopping and restaurants. Just walk out the door. Music noise at night was barely audible and never a bother for me. There is a 7-11 store just across the road where I could get snacks and ice. The beach is just a block further down, and the more main beach entry is only a couple of short blocks away. I plan to return in September to finish my dental work and I’ll stay here again. Hotel Cielo is a great option for the budget-conscious, or anyone looking for a more traditionally styled place. Plus, the location cannot be beat.

The location is Great! Restaurant below is fabulous. Pro’s: you are just about 30 meters from 5th Avenue. Con’s: you are just about 30 meters from 5th Avenue. Our recommendation is book an interior room so you do not hear the noise of 5th Avenue ( till ~ 3am).

I needed a 1 night stay and as I was eating breakfast I didn't notice above was a hotel tucked in above. I can't remember her name but she was super friendly and seemed to be manager of sorts and she took me on a tour of hotel to show me and it was beautiful the architecture was awesome with a roof top sundeck with beautiful views of the beach. The location is 10 steps off Playa del Carmen's famous 5th ave. There is a 7-11 right across with everything within walking distance ,1 block from 5th ave Aldo bus station and 1 block from the beach.The front desk was great as in watching my bags as I waited by the beach for early check-in. Check-in was great and even took my bags up to room and left them till I returned which was huge because there is no elevator but the walk up can be challenging I imagine for some . The sound travels well from the restaurant downstairs (Carbonsitos) where I ate my breakfast and served great food at other times I seen usally I would participate in the rucus but was leaving the next day. The interior was so nice and quaint like a small typical Mexican hacienda feel to it. I definitely will visit again because their rates were awesome ...location if you like to be where it's happening is it !

BEST BOUTIQUE HOTEL hands down. Stayed here with my wife and 11 year old daughter. Loved the hotel across the board.comfortable quiet room. Awesome staff. Beautiful roof deck. Right next to all action and beach without actually being on fifth ave. Also after eating at a bunch of recommended restaurants, we kept coming back for the downstairs restaurant Carboncitos. I needed another two weeks just to try everything on the menu.

Best boutique hotel in Playa Del Carmen. Super friendly staff and the best beds, very comfortable. Right near everything, easy to get around and see what the city has to offer. The rooftop terrace is incredible and worth the stay alone. Attached is the best restaurant, Carboncitos, with awesome food. Highly recommend it to those looking for a wonderful place to stay in Playa Del Carmen.

My favorite hotel in playa ... very beautiful decor and the beds are amazingly comfortable. The staff are super friendly and the restaurant attached to it has amazing food. Also very nice for couples and families.

I was visiting Playa del Carmen and had some troubles with my reservation at another hotel, luck was in my favor because Hotel Cielo front desk service was able to get me in to a room last minute. Hands down the best boutique hotel in the area and I could not of been more satisfied. Great Wi-Fi connection and the best beds (admittedly more comfortable than mine at home). My stay was the most enjoyable I have had in the longest time. There is an incredible roof top, where you get a great view of the town and the amazing ocean views. Would be an fantastic venue for a destination wedding. Downstairs I the most incredible meal during my stay in Playa del Carmen at the hotels restaurant: Carboncito's. I had the cochinita pibil, a regional Mayan dish that blew my mind. The service was bar none the best and I was treated like family. If you are considering a stay in Playa, stay at this hotel!

The hotel is in an excellent location with a view of the ocean. It is just steps from Quinta Avenida and its many restaurants and shops. The staff was extremely friendly and professional. We are already in the process of returning later this year.

I been coming to Hotel Cielo for 14 years, multiple times per year. I always come back to the same boutique hotel. That says it all. Great location, friendly staff, and clean hotel. 1 block from the ocean, right on 5th Ave, and access to all the best restaurants you need. I can't honestly recommend another location, since I keep coming back...

This was our third or fourth visit to this charming boutique hotel just off the avenida. Unique rooms, lovey rooftop terrace, great internet and friendly staff. We loved our room and watching sunrise over the water from the terrace. The hotel staff also recommended a terrific restaurant —Yum Yum— we ate there twice.

From the time I booked until I left the hotel my experience was great! Jose and Carlos at the desk were very accommodating and my room was kept nice and clean. The decor in my room was really cool and Mexican style. Plenty of hot water for showers and comfy bed! There is a really cool rooftop where I sat on a rainy afternoon and enjoyed a good book under the palapa. Such a great view on the roof where I also took great sunrise pics. Close to absolutely everything. I will definitely be back!! Oh and the price is right for the quality which is always a bonus!!
