Alma Lodge Guest House

I stayed at Alma Lodge guest house because I was going to the 'Live In The Park' festival a few minutes walk away. Kerry is fabulous - nothing is too much trouble for her. I needed to arrive early due to the gates of the festival opening at 12.30. I spoke to her before the day and she arranged for me to check in at 11.30am at no extra charge! On the day I missed my train and so arrived later than this and she was waiting to check me in and show me to my room so that I could get to the event. She gave me directions to the park entrance and advised me of somewhere to get a meal if I needed it. The room was spotless and very comfortable. As others have said, the guest house is on a main road but no noise could be heard from this. Breakfast was freshly cooked, hot and delicious. I travel in the UK a lot and if I am in Plymouth again Alma Lodge will be where I am staying! Thanks Kerry!

We booked the Alma Lodge Guesthouse for the night as we were going to a concert in Plymouth & didn't fancy driving home straight afterwards. As always you're never sure what to expect but we were extremely pleased with what we found! We were made to feel very welcome & they even managed to have our room ready earlier than planned to help us get to the concert in plenty of time, which was greatly appreciated on our part. The room was very clean & well presented & they'd made excellent use of the space they've got. We had a double & single in our room, plenty of storage & small en-suite which was perfect for us. Breakfast is pre-order, which we're always fine with although we needed to order everything on the form including what cereal, what type of toast & sauces etc. Again, not a problem but a bit unusual, although it did mean they were fully prepared in the morning with everything on our table so in that respect it works very well. The breakfast was all beautifully cooked, & nice & hot. On site parking is fairly tight, room for 3 cars, otherwise it would be finding somewhere on 1 of the side roads which all looked quite full as in a residential area. Again though, as we parked on site it wasn't a problem for us. We both agreed we'd definitely stay at the Alma Lodge Guesthouse again the next time we're in Plymouth. Well done to the family, lovely place & great hosts!

We stayed on the weekend following the Alive at Plymouth event. We were supposed to check in after 4 but needed to be there before 3 so we were leaving our car and coming back later as arranged with the hosts. When we got there, the room was already ready which was fantastic so they obviously had a tough morning getting all the rooms together early, so thank you. Room was clean, comfortable and had everything needed. Lovely bathroom with a wet room and freestanding bathtub. Quiet evening though on a main road you can't hear any traffic at all. Breakfast was lovely and was plenty. Catered for me as a vegetarian too. Really couldn't fault it and would stay again when visiting Plymouth. Thank you.

Owner very friendly and informative on on arrival, our room was facing onto a very busy, noisy road but when all the windows were shut it was completely quite, bedding clean, we were offered fans if we got to hot, the tea tray was very well stocked, the breakfast ordering was really organised, we had everything we ordered and asking for extra's was not a problem, overall clean and tidy, my only issue was the matress was on the soft side and the duvet was extremely thin.

Our third stay at Alma House, that really says it all. Paula & Kelly make us so welcome. Nothing is too much trouble. We feel like part of the family. Comfortable beds & pillows. Everything's clean & tidy. We like staying here. A plus is its on the bus route.

What a wonder Guest House. We arrived early and was greeted with a smile and was able to check in straight away which was fantastic after a 5 hour drive. The hosts were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in a family room and everything you needed was in there. Thank you for the Rocky biscuits 😜. The beds were really comfortable and it was really quiet at night. We had to order what we wanted for breakfast the night before. The breakfast was lovely and if you needed more drink or toast you could. Would definitely stay here again. Give it a try.

The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was small but clean and well appointed. Our hosts were very friendly and offered us recommendations of things to see and places to eat. The location was a bit far for us to walk to the Barbican but was an inexpensive cab ride and not an issue. Plymouth is a wonderful place to visit and The Alma Lodge Guest House was the perfect location for us to enjoy the city.

Excellent stay and I’d recommend it to everyone visiting Plymouth. A warm welcome from the owner who showed us to our large & well furnished room. Where’s the bathroom? He revealed it behind a cupboard door: toilet, basin and shower & it was perfect. Beds were very comfy and it was nice and quiet so we had a cracking night’s sleep. Cooked Breakfast was excellent, especially the sausage. The hostess then gave us some info about Plymouth to help our stay. She’s a real asset to the city. We’ll definitely be returning here next time we’re staying in Plymouth.

We came for our Daughter's graduation from Plymouth University. We found this place on the Web. It was spotless. The owners were very friendly,welcoming and helpful. Had a lovely breakfast and anything we needed was provided
