We have spent about ten days at Pontresina Youth Hostel, as we usually do every summer. The Hostel has always met our needs in the past. We are happy to say that also this year, despite the change of management, we have had a great time. First of all, Patric and Tina – the new managers – proved to be very friendly and professional, focused on making our stay enjoyable. The location of the structure allows easy access to all the tourist destinations of the Engadine - and free of charge for the hostel guests. Some parts of the hostel – the wooden stairs, for instance – have been renovated. At meals the portions are generous, even if the choice of dishes has been somewhat reduced. Breakfast, on the other hand, is more than satisfactory, with a wide choice of sweet and salty foods (the cappuccino is extraordinary, believe me!). The rooms are comfortable and extremely quiet at night, thanks to precise rules and the good education of the guests. As in all hostels, bathrooms are shared but very clean. WiFi is available in approx 80% of the facility. Speaking of prices, we have not noticed any increase compared to last year, except for the cost of parking which is now 10 francs. Considering the excellent level of the tourist structure and remembering that we are in Switzerland, the quality/price ratio is very good. What makes the difference for us is the Euro/CHF exchange rate, which obviously affects non-swiss guests. But for a beach holiday in most Italian seaside resorts I would not have paid less.
