Haven Hotel

Great location for many interesting places around! The hotel located perfectly within my purposes- to see as much as I can of the Nature , and good relaxation in the hotel of course! The hotel provides a hitting swimming pool, leisure facilities, a sandbar, beautiful views, beach is sandy and attractive, very clean! Ferry on the corner. I advise to take your passport, because you have opportunity to get short travel to France as well!

What a wonderful location with the most amazing views. I sat on my balcony for hours watching life on the waves!! I was travelling with my dad who at aged 90 has some slight mobility issues and he struggled with the steps everywhere particularly as you arrive. I would have expected more ramps and staff assistance given that many guests were elderly when we stayed. We were also concerned about the lift which was very small and ancient and had apparently not been working just before we arrived. The staff were lovely and friendly. However we felt sorry for them as for all 3 days coffee machines were not working at breakfast. On one day both were broken and queues were long and guests irritated! There were issues with the kitchen on Friday night which led to a limited menu being offered to a fully booked restaurant. Again guests were unhappy and the poor staff dealt with this. Finally, we were asked to pay when we arrived for our full stay and were then unable to charge meals and drinks to our room. This was very unusual and inconvenient! All in all a lovely break but a disappointing attention to service and accessibility particularly for older guests.

This is a 3 star at a real push. The facilities and rooms are worn and dated (see pics). The layout of the family room was great with a separate bunk room. You couldn’t actually shut the door to the kids room as they’ve jammed the door behind the bed. Breakfast was of a standard that I wouldn’t want to try eating anything else. The whole thing needs a major facelift. The staff range from disinterested to shocking. The spa was the worst of it. They couldn’t sort out their own booking system. The staff don’t speak English well enough to actually take a booking over the phone. I was taken into the treatment room 15 minutes late but the massage ended on time so I ended up paying £70 for less than 30 minutes. No robe was offered although I did see other people in them. The beds are hard and the pillows aren’t much better. The pillows are thin and stiff. This would be a very bad choice for anyone with a back issue.

Location is everything. Hotel is tired and needs rebuild. Been coming for over 15 years. Staff are excellent. Breakfast is excellent and the view over the entrance to Poole harbour makes it special. Dinner menu is good and the food very good. Will come back next year if Hotel still open.

I first visited The Haven as a child and we have spent many happy times there. It’s not perfect of course, some of the fixtures and fittings are a little tired but it’s still a wonderful place. The ferry chugs back and forth which is rather comforting and the beaches and Old Harry’s Rocks are beautiful. Flotillas of boats pass by for endless entertainment if that’s your thing! The location is perfect and the (mostly young) staff were charming and helpful. It was our anniversary whilst there and there were rose petals and towel swans on the day. The restaurant looks over the sea and the sunset which mattered more to us than the menu. All the food was good, it doesn’t vary but there were plenty of choices. There are often multi generational families staying and people like us who may have followed the hotel group’s fortunes since the 1970s! The loyalty of some patrons adds to the charm. If you want spanking new, trendy or Insta worthy interiors, dinners to photograph or nightlife then maybe it’s not your sort of place but you won’t find a more beautiful setting in the UK. Personally that’s more important to us and we’ve many magical memories of our stays.

Superb location, friendly and helpful staff but the facilities and decor need a serious update, very dated and like it’s fallen from splendour of yesteryear. The bed was comfy, no air con though and the noises from the mechanics of the hotel kept us awake most of the night, It seemed like our room was above the kitchen and we had a loud humming throughout the night. Not a lot to do in Sandbanks either.

This hotel was recommended to us and the location is amazing, the views are stunning and it would have been lovely to have a room with a view, but sadly we overlooked the car park. The hotel seems slightly tired and dated and can only assume the high price is purely based on location. We only stayed one night, but did use the outside pool which was lovely, clean, warm and a few sunbeds dotted around. Breakfast was very good, served buffet style, but hot food was constantly being replenished and was hot and tasty, great selection of items, to suit all tastes. Check in was a bit of a nightmare and took far longer than necessary due to confusion over booking on a virgin voucher. Would we stay here again, probably not, we spent the following night in a premier inn and they were far more accommodating.

The highlight of this hotel was the view overlooking the harbour entrance and the chain ferry. The room and facilities were adequate and pleasant , but there were areas where they appear to be scrimping. - Where were the bottles of water supposedly in our room? Why only one small tube of shower gel etc. between the two of us? Why not even a cocktail stick to eat our pre dinner olives? We had to use our fingers! Etc.. For the price, we expected better…. Was it lack of staff training?

The Haven Hotel is in a very good location , you do not have to use a car , as a very good bus service, the rooms are excellent and facilities are very good if you need anything, the staff are very friendly and helpful, I would highly recommend to friends and family
