Have stayed in Port Douglas many times, with my favourite location being on/close to Macrossan Street. This is now my favourite place to stay - lovely character building, close to everything (restaurants, supermarket, markets, the park for the sunset) with the beach a lovely stroll away. Our family of five fitted really well into the 2-bed dual key room. Us adults had the smaller room with ensuite, our two teenage girls had twin beds in the bedroom and our teenage son was on a pull-out bed in the lounge. To be honest the pull-out was in pretty poor condition (a wheel was missing) but he coped! We could have rung for service but he didn't complain too much so it didn't worry me! Having the pull-out meant that we had the couch available at all times. One adult had to do some work while we were away so was able to use the desk setup in the smaller room - the internet was good enough to allow zoom/teams calls and the space was quiet and away from the rest of the family so didn't impact on the rest of us. There was a wonderful large verandah to sit out on. We had a couple of tropical downpours and were able to sit out there and enjoy the rain. It was an awesome people watching spot but you didn't feel too on show. The hotel below had live music and we loved sitting with the large doors pushed all the way open, listening to the music. Bliss! In terms of room amenities, we had everything we needed. It was great having two bathrooms. Carparking was included but the wonderful thing is that you don't really have to take your car out if you are doing things locally - nothing better than wondering down for breakfast, heading to the supermarket to buy fresh watermelon, other fruits and platter food for lunch, and then heading down to a local place for dinner. So many options. We only saw someone on reception once but that was fine. We could have done with more rubbish bags as we wanted to remove food waste on a daily basis due to the tropical location and these were difficult to get as there was nobody around to ask. But we could have rung up and requested them, but instead we just grabbed more at the supermarket and took them home afterwards! The only issue for us was lugging all our gear up from the garage as the luggage elevator was broken during our stay, but this was fine for us as we were strong and able-bodied. Overall, I would come back here in a heartbeat. Loved feeling part of Macrossan Street while sitting on the verandah. Loved the heritage building. Loved the generous living space and extra room. Loved the 10 minute walk to the sunrise and that the sunset was just across the road. Love Port Douglas. Will definitely stay here again
