The Victoria Apartments

Apartment was nice with a garage. Located near some restaurants in a small town. On a side note, do ask trip.com to fwd any check in email from apartment to you. Had trouble checking in as trip.com did not forward the pre checkin email to us, and the intercom for the accomm on site kept hanging up after 10 seconds. Had to call them (via roaming) many times b4 we finally checked in.

The one bedroom suite which was allocated to us was very spacious and located in the "back row" on the ground floor which made it away from road traffic noise. The bedroom had plenty of cupboard space, and the lounge area was also a good size. The staff are very responsive via email, which is great to know. The bed was so very comfortable and huge - two singles created a king sized bed! The shower was awesome with a good strong flow of very hot water. We were disappointed that I had to wipe down the coffee table and sofa as they had stains from previous people - both of those minor things could have been attended to prior to our arrival. The main entry door into the apartment passageway didn't latch properly and was easily opened just by pushing the door, without even using the handle. This needs to be fixed as a security issue because anybody could just come in and access the garage! (The apartment door was fine, and closed and locked with no issue.) The bathroom sink took ages to drain, and the shower door design is poor as it didn't stop water from going onto the bathroom floor causing a puddle. The shower could also be improved with a shelf for soap and shampoo. Our peace was ruined when guests turned up and went to the apartment upstairs - we could easily hear them, especially going up the stairs and moving around the apartment. However, despite the minor things listed above, the suite is very comfortable and warm.

Our suite was spacious with a bed big enough for a threesome. The entry to our room was via a passage from a door that failed to lock. In our suite, I checked the sliding glass door to the courtyard and found it was unlocked and we had a lot of trouble securing the door as the locking mechanism was faulty. Our bathroom had some peculiarities; the wash basin was box-shaped, about 30 x 30 cm with the tap reaching into it, making hand and face washing difficult. To top it off the shower alcove had no shelf to hold soap and shampoo, and the shower screen door didn’t close firmly, therefore a puddle of water ran across the bathroom floor.

Awful experience. The correspondence with the property below sums it up. Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to request a full refund for our booking at The Victoria Apartments please. We could not stay there as it was cold (the heater did not work) and dirty, there was a blood stain on the pillow, curly black hairs in the bed, a dirty fridge, toilet and shower... I have taken pictures. More shockingly, the apartment had a condemned balcony (?!) (we requested no balcony as we are travelling with our six year old). I spoke to the receptionist who told me there was nothing she could do apart from text you, the owners to let you know about our complaints, her shift ended at 5pm and there would be noone there until morning. We decided to find alternate accommodation in the town and when successful, posted the key back in the returns box. We would like a refund please as the advertisement for this property on [link removed]does not match the reality. I look forward to hearing from you. You chose a no balcony apartment and that is what you received, we would have been happy to give you a different apartment based on your complaints however you stormed off and we were unable to contact you, our receptionist then went and rectified the issues you stated incase you opted to stay or went back to reception after she requested approval to move you. Can you kindly send through your photos so i can show them to housekeepers as we have a certain standard of cleanliness we expect them to provide Dear Sir/Madam, The non-refundable policy is for cancelling ahead of the booking or not showing up; we did not cancel and we checked into your property. We then found the condition of your property unacceptable and not as advertised. The choice of ‘no balcony’ on your booking options did not infer ‘condemned balcony.’ This is misleading. Your receptionist has misinformed you, I told her why the apartment was unacceptable, her response was that she would text the owners about changing rooms but had no idea when she would receive a reply. She could not make the decision herself to move our room and could not give a refund. I explained we had a limited amount of time in Port Fairy and would see if we could find alternative accommodation and come back. She said she would not be there as her shift was ending and there would be no one until the next day. We agreed there was nothing she could therefore do to help and I left. We found an excellent alternative down the road and returned to collect our belongings and put the key in the box. The photos were taken on our return to the apartment- your receptionist had not rectified any of the issues. I will happily provide photos- please let me know the email address you would like me to send them to. Port Fairy is a beautiful town, it was a shame to have been let down

ok place to stay in, at a walkable distance to town, nice clean rooms but i found it too expensive for what the offer. the private balcony was a nice touch . getting to the rooms upstairs was a challenge as the stairway was not wide enough especially if you have bags

Great location a cosy 1 bedroom unit all on the ground floor with the bigger units on the first levels. Although dated, mostly clean apart from the usual carpet stains. Room service every day was a bonus with pleasant staff. Great Air Con and Heating made the stay comfortable. A negative will not stay in the 1 bedroom again as the stairwell to the upper units is adjacent to the lounge and bedroom of the lower units bearing noise from the stairs constantly and banging of exit and entry doors. Overall apart from the noise the stay was pleasant.

We choose the Victoria Apartments Drill Hall Cottage, based on the promising features highlighted on their website and paying $915 for the night, we had high expectations for a boutique hotel experience. Regrettably, our stay did not meet these expectations. The cleanliness of the cottage was subpar, with greasy and sticky tables and benchtops throughout. Two of the bedrooms were not adequately cleaned, with one even containing a contact lens left on the bedside table. The leather lounges showed significant signs of wear and tear, including splitting leather on the seating cushions. The rustic wooden table was stained, scratched, and, as mentioned earlier, unclean. Furthermore, we encountered issues such as missing carpet in one of the bedrooms and a queen bed with a mattress so worn that the springs were causing discomfort. Our attempt to use the heater/air conditioning unit was thwarted by a persistent unpleasant odor, reminiscent of old fish. After much corresponding, with no apology for the state of the accommodation, we have been give a refund of $91.

Booked a 1 Bedroom Apartment for 4 nights in November - we requested and were given a ground floor wanting no stairs. On arrival check in staff friendly and helpful. Our room was bright looking, clean, tidy, and nicely fitted out. TV worked well. Shower was nice and hot. Bed was too firm for us though. It was great having an off street lock up garage with internal access and remote. Location was nice and quiet and a close to walk to the shops and restaurants. With the street facing ground floor room we could open the lounge door out onto the small patio and to footpath but as there is no key to lock the sliding door from outside, when going out for dinner you still had to exit via the rear and walk around complex- a bit annoying. We put the please make up room tag on our door but our full rubbish bin never got emptied only fresh towels and bed were done, also annoying. Overall a nice stay here.
