I would advise that you consider other options when staying in this area. This "tennis club" is a cheap motel. Calling it a Tennis Club makes it sound upscale; far from the truth. It's dirty, dated, and shabby not in the chic way. I did not want to lay on the bed but I was so tired it became a necessity. I would have slept in the car if the parking lot wasn't so seedy. I did not make this reservation it was made for me by family to come and stay for a wedding. I've have travelled a lot and this ranks as one of the worst I'm sorry to say. The pictures show the side of the mattress and the carpet.

The porpoise of this hotel was only to sleep, it was strategically chosen because it had a low price and was on the way to LA, where we were going to take our flight back home. The check in time was at 14:00, we arrived at 17:00, no problems until there, we made our check in, we asked for a room on the ground floor, we had a lot of bags and my parents are not that young anymore, we didn't requested before, and the hotel was full, so for that they couldn't accommodate us (witch is understandable, we should had called before). Six bags and two flights of stairs latter we arrive at the room, only to find the room with the bad with no sheet and all the furniture from the room on top of it, and if that wasn't enough the room was DISGUSTING! I come dow already unpleased, the front desk lady says that she has no other room and no one to clean it, I ask: “So what do I do do I have to clean it myself?!”, she tells me that I have to look for another place to stay. I ask her to call her supervisor (because clearly she had no idea what she was saying). She told her to try to call someone to come clean the rooms, I told her that we needed a different price and she was going to try to deal with all of that and let me know. Another guest offered to give us their room wile we waited, witch was so nice, but why couldn't the hotel do this, not all the guests had arrived. They gave us 50% off on the rooms, when i contested the manager about the room situation she replied (and I quote): "We have already given u a discount, you should be grateful". I have almost all the conversations on tape, as well I have pictures, never saw such poor hotel management, and I can say that because I work on the same line of business and I travel a lot.

10:30pm Sunday we spoke to a lady K.hunt. she was not the friendliest my husband gave her his milItaly i.d. she spoke to us with an Attitude told us she needed an I.D with an address . ..she asked if we smoked I said no she said we would be fined if we smoked in a non smoking room I told her we don't smoke ...she gave us a non smoking room that smelled like a heavy smoker stayed there...I called front desk thank goodness I spoke with someone else, kim who was very nice and helpful upgraded our room ..next morning went to the front desk and spoke with Eric about staying another nite he seemed pre occupied twe cop cars were out front in the middle of our transaction he left outside for a few minutes ..they arrested someone he came back and said "pretty soon we won't be excepting locals anymore" he said a lot of Gonzales and acosta's have been staying there he see that name time and time again ....which I felt was very rude and out of line because that is my last name and my husbands last name plus we're LOCALS!!! This place has color schemes that date from the 70s and the electrical outlets were definitely positioned prior to everyone needing to charge everything every day. You have to get on your hands and knees to crawl under tables to find places to plug things in. Very nice kitchenette and a very good breakfast every morning. The room was immaculately clean and very comfortable but the bathroom looks like it was designed by Motel 6. VERY small vanity. I like to lay a washcloth next to the sink and lay out all of my daily stuff, ie razor, toothbrush, comb, etc. and there wasn't room for that next to the sink. Old round bowl toilet (guys hate them, think about it) and the towels were of the Days Inn / Motel 6 quality standard. The property was recently purchased and during the changeover the WiFi was disabled and i was offline my entire visit. Understandable but frustrating. Pool and hot tub nice.

Casa Via Mar Inn looks okay from the outside, but once you reach your room, you will discover you are staying in one of the 7 levels of hell. As soon as your open the door you are hit with the smell. My colleagues and I stayed here and we would best describe the odor as a mixture of smoke, mildew, mold, and moth balls. This was not just my room as we had 3 rooms reserved and they all smelled this way. My bathroom had no toilet paper holder, no drain plug for the bath tub, & NO SHOWER DOOR RAILS. What it did have was a crack in the wall of the shower and the shower head was made for guests under 5 feet tall. If you are over 5 feet tall, expect to bow down like you are greeting royalty just to wash your hair. There was hair in my bed from previous guests as well. The walls are paper thin so you hear the most intimate conversations from the adjoining rooms. I asked to switch rooms, but was told there were none available. The place has not been updated since maybe 1973. I wouldn't subject anyone to the horrors I endured.

There are flying insects the will get in any food you set down for even a moment. And forget about the coffee maker in the room, ugh! The drains smell horribly so you can't stand near them to brush you teeth or you will gag. An insect from the room bite me in my ear....I kid you not. I didn't realize it until I was driving home and my ear started bleeding. I complained to management while I was there ..they said they would take care of the room while I was out during the day and apparently did nothing. Now I've emailed them several times and sent photos and they won't answer me. I'm traumatized by my stay at Casa Via Mar

I recently booked a reservation at this hotel and while the staff was friendly, I think the staff may need to focus on the cleanliness of the rooms a bit more. The mattress was stained, and the cover didn't seem to be changed after each guest. The location was also not ideal. I recommend staying closer to Ventura Beach Pier.

Clean room. Smelled good. Comfortable beds. Very classy rooms and decor...liked the wooden blinds. Perfect location if you plan to do something over in the harbor. We did a Channel Islands Wildlife tour from there so it was perfect for us. The guy at the desk was very friendly and the room was very reasonably price for the location. Restaurants and stores nearby. Definitely recommend for travelers.
