I was in town for my friends' wedding and they recommended their guests stay at the Doubletree Poughkeepsie property. We were given a promo code for the wedding to receive a discount for a night. When I first arrived, my room reeked of cigarette smoke (in a non-smoking room). I spoke to the front desk and told them this, and they offered to switch my room. I had already unpacked, and was very busy with events for the wedding (I was part of the bridesmaids group), so I did not have time to repack and switch rooms. The night I arrived back from the wedding, I sat on the armchair in my room while I took a phonecall. When I got up from the chair, I had large red stains all over my arms. This definitely was not on my arms when I left the wedding (I have many photos of me at the wedding), and when I looked back at the chair, I noticed the fabric was soaked with some kind of red substance (the fabric was dark so this was not visible on first glance when I initially sat down). I called the front desk again, and told them about what had happened with the chair, again reminding them of the strong smokey odour in the room. Again, they offered me to switch rooms. As the wedding had now finished and I was exhausted, just wanting to sleep, I told them I would stay in the room for the night, but I did not want to stay at the property for longer than I needed to (I originally planned to stay at the hotel for one more night after the wedding festivities ended). I asked them if I could check out early instead of switching rooms, and receive a refund for just that last night, but they stated that this was not possible since I had prepaid for my reservation. They instead offered to give me 50,000 Hilton Honours points as compensation for my troubles. I accepted this offer, and they indicated that the points would show up in my account after a couple weeks. I kept my eye on this and noticed I never received the 50,000 points I was promised. When I contacted Hilton Honours about this entire incident, they said they had no information from the hotel about this, so they would ask someone from the hotel front desk to contact me regarding the missing points. That was over two months ago now and I am still waiting to be contacted and compensated with the 50,000 points (or a much due refund). The fact that I have had to continue following up with both the hotel and Hilton Honours for months after the stay, just to resolve multiple issues on their part, has made my experience even more awful. I recommend to avoid this hotel at all costs.
