Tronco Tambopata Adventure

My experience with this tour was mixed due to poor organization and communication. The groups, with varying lengths of stay, were all managed by one guide, so there was no clear itinerary or schedule—everything was decided by the guide on the fly. On my last day, I was expecting to leave by 4pm as per my itinerary. Initially, the guide planned for a morning trip to the Tambopata River, but later decided to move it to the afternoon so he could avoid making two trips for different groups. This change meant I wouldn't return until 6pm, despite my planned 4pm departure, and no alternate activity was offered to replace the morning tour. While this issue was eventually resolved, I felt that my time was not respected, and the situation was poorly handled. The guide implied I wouldn’t have anything to do if I checked into my next hotel earlier, which wasn’t for him to decide. Communication was also an issue. The guide requested an additional $20 for a night walk, which should have been complimentary for me. Though this was sorted out, it added to the disorganization. Lastly, when we were at Tambopata Reserve, the guide made an inappropriate comment, telling me I was beautiful and that he loved me, which was uncomfortable and out of place, especially since we were alone on the lake. While I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, considering English wasn’t his first language, the entire situation was unsettling.

Our time in Tronco Tambopata belonged to the best parts of our holidays in Peru. The nature is extraordinarily beautiful, you meer great people and can relax and experience many interesting things at the same time. Jersey, our guide, had a lot to say about the surroundings and the team looked after us in a way that one felt at home while being in the jungle. We would have loved to stay longer.

Best 3 day trip ever!! The guides (Wallie, Sebastian, Andrea and Ramao), were brilliant. They had so much knowledgeable and passionate, sharing our excitement for finding different plants and animals. Each day was scheduled very well to give us a different experience and lots of opportunities to see different wildlife. The accommodation was beautiful, calm and very clean.The hosts were kind and the food they made was fantastic. I couldn't recommend this place enough! I will be telling everyone to visit!

We spent 4 days and 3 nights at Tronco Tambopata with our group of 6 adults and 6 children. The property was amazing. It is well laid out and well-maintained. The cabins were clean and comfortable. The food was excellent and varied, and the beer was cold. Our compliments to the chefs and managerial staff! The excursions were great. We saw so much flora and fauna in Lago Sandoval. The sunsets and sunrises off the boat were stunning. The resident monkey Macaco and the parrot Pepe kept the kids entertained. Our guide Bryan was knowledgeable, resourceful, patient, kind, and all around awesome!

My wife, kids (3 and 17), and wife spent 3 nights here and to say we had an amazing time is an understatement. The location is tucked in the jungle, so you are immersed in wildlife and the sounds of the forest. The people that work the lodge are phenomenal- from the chef, to the cleaning crew, to the front desk- all made us feel at home and made our stay unforgettable. For our excursions, Miguel was our guide. If you can request him personally- do it! He is kind, patient, and has interment knowledge of the area (to include animals and plants). Miguel was the highlight of our time in Tambopata (my 3 year old keeps askijg about him!). 10/10 recommend

Tronco is an absolutely brilliant experience! If you are looking for a friendly, clean place to stay in the jungle, easily accessible from Puerto Maldonado, then Tronco is the one! The rooms were large, with hammocks outside and mosquito nets inside. The rooms are set into the beautiful garden, so you feel very much in the middle of nature. The staff were so helpful and kind, and we ate so well (three course meals!) every day. This is a truly special part of the river, with people who genuinely care about nature, animals, plants and the future of their home. Julio was an exceptional guide, so you could request him when you book if possible. We saw wild sloths, caimans, capybaras, night monkeys, macaws and more... plus we visited some families who are looking after rescued animals (macaws and monekys) from the pet trade. Unique, and genuinely supporting an ecotourism establishment. Thank you for our amazing stay, Tronco!

It was a great experience and I highly recommend it if you have enough time in Peru. It is great to observe the diversity Peru has in terms of flora, fauna and geograpghy. Everything was great with Tronco Tambopata from smooth process of online booking to kind staff, comfortable lodge in the jungle, attentive guide, and delicious food. The lodge is located in the jungle, it is clean and designed to fit in the environment. The room was clean, spacious with a private bathroom. A fan is also available, if needed. There is no hot water, but you don't need it in this environment (a refreshing shower is great after exploring the hot jungle). Every day we received different meals and all were very tasty. Every member of the staff was very kind and attentive to our needs - they were super nice and have highly contributed to have an incredibile experience. Our guide - Jerssy was very attentive to everyone in the group and provided lots of information about the animals and plants we observed during our daily activities. Also, all the activities mentioned in the tour description were performed and we managed to see a lot of animals (different species of monkeys, capybaras, parrots and other birds, caymans etc.) And observe an amazing sunset in the jungle.

We took 2 nights tour. Everything was great - rooms, enviroment, guide, tour program and especially the food! I'm a picky eater, but for me all food was very tasty, you always get different kind of local fruit juice which is nice. Tours are in small groups, which is great, because you get private experience. Huge reccomendations for this company :)

The experience was just amazing. Our guide Freddy new everything and took care of us for whole three days. The food was amazing. The whole group of the lodge was super kind and was gonna help you with anything you needed.
