Have visited Ross-On-Wye on three previous occasions (staying at the Broadmeadow Park each time) but had never before ventured into The Kings Head Hotel. Having been recommended to us by the bar staff of another pub that did not serve food on Tuesdays, we called in early afternoon to book a table for an evening meal. And, as we were there, ordered just the one round of drinks for the four of us. The genuine and warm welcome we received that afternoon from the bar staff (who I later learnt was Emily) made for an enjoyable hour. We returned for our evening meal to find that Emily, as she was not working that evening, had mentioned us to the restaurant staff who also made us feel very welcome. Just as importantly, the quality of the drinks and the food were second to none and the ambience in both the bar and restaurant were just right. As a main course I had the sirloin steak which was lean (as requested) and cooked to my liking. I always think that eating out is more than good food and drink. It is an event. And all the staff (of which Emily deserves a special mention) made it an afternoon and evening to remember. So thank you. Needless to say, this will be our first port of call next time we visit Ross. Diolch Emily a’r holl staff fu’n gweini arnom.
