Gray Manor Hotel

This place felt like an inn out of a hallmark Christmas movie! I highly recommend staying and eating in! You’ll feel like a truly welcomed guest and will be happy to return. It’s a family run hotel in a tiny town in England. I’m short of words for the review!

This hotel lets itself down in so many ways with vast room for improvement. On arrival to reception there were no staff, which is sometimes understandable given the size of the property. However, there were two large dogs present which, whilst calm, may be intimidating to some people. I do not think it’s acceptable to keep animals in reception (Or really any public place of a hotel) without staff accompanying. The room was furnished with cheap, tired items that had been repainted in a green paint. The bed was generally uncomfortable with thin pillows. The bathroom was not thoroughly clean, the sink had hot and cold taps which were labelled incorrectly, and the toilet refill was noisy and took 10 minutes to complete. Random ornaments throughout the hotel and common areas. The bedroom door was thin with no sound proofing, it was easy to hear people moving about the corridors. This hotel was vastly overpriced and requires significant improvement.

Visited the hotel for one night and was absolutely expecting to be blown away following comments of attention to customer service, friendliness, good food and refurbished. Unfortunately this was not the experience. The room was extremely noisy being above the kitchen generator /fans, bathroom was certainly not refurbished or particularly clean and having paid £100 for the night it was below the standard that would be expected for this cost. Had we paid £50/£60 for the night that would be different but at that price they definitely took advantage. Tried to raise issues but reception staff were either no where to be seen or too busy on the phone to respond. At checkout no one was present either which was disappointing and leads me to leave a review instead of addressing with hotel staff on this occasion.

I had a great party here for my 60th birthday. Lovely staff, they are very friendly, and I felt that nothing was too much trouble. It was a great venue for a great party. It was lovely to be able to use the outside space as well as the function rooms. They also supplied a buffet, and the food was very good.

Lovely manor hotel, a little dated and could do with a freshen up,however, the hospitality and the food were excellent so we couldn't mark it down. Be aware there are 2 dogs that live there but they don't bother you one bit ! We had a room with a spa bath, very 60 shades of grey decor but that was pleasantly appealing 😊 ! The staff are very polite and happy 😊 so well done 👏!! If you have an evening meal the chunky chips were to die for, oh and the san miguel was very nice too . The grounds are lovely and sat outside for a while to take the country side in . Overall everything was there that you needed and would happily return. Thank you 😊

We stayed here for a couple of nights as we attended a friends wedding close by. The hotel has everything you need and the grounds are beautiful and peaceful. We ate here on the first night and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. The room was very unique and very comfortable. You can see a lot of thought has gone into the interior design. There are 2 dogs on site and they are the most well behaved, gentle dogs I’ve seen! We would stay here again! Thank you for having us!

It was Ok but needs some attention to painting. Furniture a bit shabby. Coverstrip on mismatched “vanity” was loose as was around base of toilet, caught my foot on it. The “sausage casserole” served in restaurant appeared to be left over breakfast sausages and baked beans, sauce splatters around bowl from reheating in microwave. Dirty tablecloth from dinner not changed for breakfast next day

Beautiful place, clean, quirky and a chilled vibe. Lovely spacious gardens. Arty rooms. Breakfast buffet has everything you could want, delicious - eggs & lovely fresh fruit, I loveee mushrooms & and those were the best I had. All the staff couldn't be more welcoming & attentive - checking you have what you need, getting water for the dogs, putting you at ease. It's not expensive: this place is excellent value for money. Will recommend to others, and will book another stay.

We shall I begin… Upon walking into my room I was very underwhelmed. The room was cold. Coffee stained bed side tables all hand painted. Reminisce of coffee left on the spoons in the room. No plug sockets near your bed. Dirty headboard. Dust in majority of places. When turning on the bathroom light you could have had a shower before it had even turned on, which brings me onto the shower, dirty and the head doesn’t fit into the fixing so sprayed all over the bathroom floor mid shower. Dogs in the way of the stairs while reception doesn’t get them to move so you are just stepping over them. Reception was friendly enough which is a positive. Overall not a great experience and would look somewhere else if ever in the area.
