First, the good aspects: the room was clean, the beds comfortable and the room, facing a side street, was pretty quiet. The breakfast was typical, but it was nice that they had egg-white omelets. Now for the not so good aspects: check-in was the worse check-in I have ever experienced, and I have travelled extensively for many years. When we walked in, we were the only patrons at the front desk where two staff members were working. No one asked me if I needed anything, so I volunteered that I was checking in. No reaction - both continued doing what they were doing before I arrived. I waited patiently for over 5 minutes (no exaggeration) and a lady came out from the side office and said something like 'he's looking for a clean room for you'. I replied that it was impossible since no one had asked for my name, so one of the gentlemen started the check-in process, but boy was he in a grumpy mood. The other negative aspect is the limited amount of parking space. When we arrived, they had all been allocated so we had to park on the street, which is metered until 10 pm, and those got filled quickly. I plan to visit Silver Spring regularly, and was hoping to make this hotel a regular, but because of the awful experience I had at check-in, I will be looking for a different establishment.
