The Coniston Hotel Country Estate & Spa - Skipton

We got a really good rate through the Trip website. Kelsey on reception changed our room because there was no bath in the first room. The staff at the hotel were very smartly dressed. The food at breakfast was excellent. We are two nights in Macleod. Again the food was excellent. We would recommend this hotel. The only negative was if you hadn’t booked a spa break you had to pay £30 each to use the pool.

Great hotel and a perfect location for Yorkshire Dales and surrounding towns of Skipton and Ilkley. The hotel was perfect and the staff so friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and our room was really comfortable with stunning views overlooking the lake and hills. Everyone made us feel so welcome and I would highly recommend a visit

This was a Birthday treat from my children and what a treat it was. We arrived at the hotel in the afternoon and had drinks and nibblesin the bar first followed by a couple of hours in the spa which is situated just a very short walk from the hotel, the spa staff were very informative about the spa facilities. We spent a lovely afternoon there and had a cocktail from the outside bar. A meal followed later in the View restaurant, my husband had the steak and it was cooked beautiful. I had the best nights sleep in a long time Breakfast in the morning was great, plenty to choose from, we had cereal and a full cooked breakfast. The staff was very friendly and helpful

A massive thank you to the whole team at Coniston for an amazing job on our special day! This venue has meant a lot to us over the years having first attended 9 years ago for Simon’s sister’s wedding and it has only gone from strength to strength over the years. We’ve stayed many times for a spa get away and it truly exceed our expectations on our wedding day! Rachel is a fabulous addition to the wedding team! Having met Rachel in the month before our wedding we felt instantly assured by her confidence, patience and responsive communication. Making sure each detail of our day was considered and working closely with our suppliers. Rachel was great on the day too, coordinating everything and making the event as stress free as possible for us. The food on the day was fantastic!! We had our menu tasting a year ago and throughly enjoyed that experience, but you always have the concern as to whether the food will be the same standard on mass…and I can safely say it is! We’ve had so many compliments from guests (especially on the beef) about how good the food was. The presentation when catering for nearly 80 guests was impressive. Compliments to the chefs! The Coniston makes an ideal wedding venue with being able to stay the night before the wedding and get ready in the morning from the comfort of your room. The bridal suit has a glorious view over the lake and plenty of space for the whole bridal party to get ready. My only comment here would be to make it look like the Dales Room and it would be phenomenal! Overall the staff really make this hotel! Each member of staff is so friendly, welcoming and professional, from the bar staff during the evening do, to room service on the morning of the wedding, everyone made our day special. We even had an unexpected additional guest ‘an OAP Labrador’ who was so accommodated by the staff and welcomed into the wedding breakfast in his little basket! This meant so much to his owners and to us for making our day so stress free. I would highly recommend holding your wedding at the Coniston, would won’t regret it! The groom and friends also had a wonderful time on the morning of the wedding at Clay Pigeon Shooting, they said the session was great and they would all like to return. The instructor was informative and they all had a blast (pardon the pun)!!

Hotel overall was okay, food was lovely, plenty of parking. Room was a twin superior and was pretty basic for the price, a little tired and reminded me of a premier inn twin room, except smaller and the beds we had were 3ft singles (clearly a double bed split) The room was clean, and quite a distance (3 corridors) from reception. The hotel bar was quite small, considering the size of the hotel. The room provided Iron & Board/ tea/coffee/robes/hair & shower gel. Patio was a bonus along with the big towels. Restaurant was nice and the food & drink was great at a reasonable price. Check out was quick although I was initially overcharged, which was quickly rectified on return.

Firstly thank you to the kind reception staff who gave us a beautiful room upgrade the staff on the bar and reception staff were outstanding, we also had use of the spa facilities which we just love one of our favourite spas ! Everything was love enjoying the drinks being brought to you is just a lovely touch, the treatments were also really amazing my husband said it was one of the best he had ! If am being really picky the only part I didn’t like was when sat in the bloom restaurant the girl severing us wasn’t the greatest sadly we could here complaining about other staff and hear her say the bar was left s**t hole s**t left all over the bar to another staff member and I can’t wait for my bloody break “ ! Which just spoilt the relaxing part of the spa and felt we were an issue. The view restaurant was just amazing my venison was just the best I’ve ever had and the pudding well just wow ! overall we really really enjoyed our stay and can’t wait for the next stay. We were even lucky enough to speak to the owner who was lovely checking that we were happy with everything, was a pleasure to meet him. Thank you again for having and we will be back soon for another am sure amazing stay !

This is a great hotel in a beautiful setting with fantastically friendly and helpful staff. My husband enjoyed the excellent spa experience but it is quite expensive at £40 for 2 hours at the weekend (£30 midweek). He thought the combination of swimming pool, infinity pools, infared room, himalayan salt sauna and other saunas/steam room was wonderful. We had dinner both nights, once in the main View restaurant and once in the Macleod bar. Both were very tasty and to be recommended. They take allergies very seriously, too. What let the hotel down was the quality of the towels, bathrobes and bed linens which were greying and probably more than a little bit past their best, especially considering the luxury positioning of the hotel. The bathroom also wasn't as clean as it should have been, so maybe housekeeping is an area to work on. We would definitely visit again but choose midweek to avoid the breakfast rush caused by wedding parties. Overall, it was a great stay.

Feel really catfished by the website the hotel and spa is very compact and small along with the hotel and lounge bar (box room bar) restaurant/dinner hall all on top of each other. Rooms are what you’d expect from a premiere inn and that’s been generous. Loud noise from the shower unit all night. The service around the spa was ridiculous we managed to get 2 drinks throughout the whole thing by chasing the woman down as she just disappeared half the time. With the spa been small with 10 people it can seem very busy which isn’t what you want when trying to relax people reserving the 6 sun loungers with towels so you have nowhere to sit. Won’t be returning our first spa experience and we are not impressed.

We visited for a friends hen party for two nights. Unfortunately the service levels we received were poor. Amongst our problems were: The room wasn't serviced, only the bed made and one towel left and this was at 3 in the afternoon. No replacement water or biscuits, teabags. One cup left instead of two. We had to find a trolley in the corridor for toilet rolls as none left with us, and upon arrival we had only half a loo roll... Complained to reception but they just said to fill in a questionnaire when we got home. Please watch the drinks in the spa. Most of our party had drinks on the bill we didn't have and the service for drinks is at a snails pace. We ordered drinks that took nearly 30 minutes to arrive. Service in the restaurant was extremely slow. Puddings took an hour! Think they have staffing issues. The bills we had were incorrect and had to be reissued twice. An automatic 10% is added on the restaurant service upon checkout so be aware not to tip twice. It's such a shame as the hotel and grounds are stunning. And overall we had a great two nights and the staff did work very hard, it's just there isn't enough of them.
