We were there in Winter (end-August) and the hotel hardly had any guests! It is located in the middle of the forest and nothing is close by. The rooms are actually cottages and, unfortunately, all the cottages need TLC, especially the woodwork. The cottages were well furnished and spacious with a nice deck. There is a beautiful pool, but it is not heated, so... We were there for two nights and the chef went out of his way to organize dinners and breakfast to meet one of our group's dietary requirements. The offerings at the bar can easily be improved. Heads up: All the cottages are on a hill side, so one has to use lots of steps to go from the main level to the cottage. No ramps. The lights on the steps are marginal, so be safe and use your smartphone's flashlight. The staff was friendly and attentive. Recommendation: explore alternatives.

This was my third visit over 5 years to this lodge, and I’ll be returning for a fourth in the future… No where else in the world makes me feel more welcome, with the most fantastic staff, a relaxed but professional atmosphere, and the most beautiful building in the most stunning setting. If you’re reading this review because you’re wondering if you should stay here, do.

Absolutely stunning and hope to return. Setting is beautiful and so relaxing. Staff could not do enough to help and we decided to eat here both nights as so lovely. If you are in the area, highly recommend. The staff even came round early evening with chocolates to our room and a beautiful story book of short traditional African stories - really went the extra mile.

This was a return visit after six years and Hog Hollow was just as good. The staff are extremely pleasant, friendly and efficient. The location is fabulous , although we were so comfortable there we only went out once - to Birds of Eden - well worth a visit. The swimming pool is lovely with a beautiful shaded area with cushions and a magnificent view. The food was amazing - beautifully cooked and presented - and enough choice even though it didn’t change for the three nights we were there. We loved having pre dinner drinks on the terrace by the fire. The couples massage with Josephine and Sylvia was lovely too. I hope we’ll be back before another six years pass!

Wow, what a special place this is. Absolutely stunning scenery, lovely food, especially the breakfast which was beautifully presented and wonderful friendly staff. We only stayed 2 nights but didn't want to leave this little oasis. Our lodge was gorgeous and not overlooked and it was so peaceful sitting on the balcony and just enjoying nature. After our evening meal it was so cosy and romantic sitting round the fire on the boma having a drink. Had a lovely massage from Josephine too. A big thank you to Fidelia and all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

Excellent hotel, the food was excellent. The beef fell of your folk it was so tender. The rooms are very nice with a hot water bottle put at the end of your bed each night. Make sure you have a massage from Josephine, the best massage ever. There’s a room over looking the valley

OMG this place is amazing. The staff are wonderful and the food is delicious. They can’t do enough to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Set overlooking the treetops you have amazing views. AND have a massage - sublime.

One of our best accommodations and would go out of the way just to stay here! The staff here are fantastic, they make you feel at home. The property is beautiful, rooms are huge, but we stayed in the Villa so that was even more special, our own private infinite pool, two floor villa with several bedrooms, huge living room, entertainment centre, full prof. Kitchen, laundry room, pool table, plus so much more here! Thanks so much for making our vacation so much more!

This was a wonderful place to stay, views were breathtaking & the staff couldn’t do enough for us & a visit from the monkeys were a delight. Even washed our car unbidden.
