I've traveled for a living most of my life, staying in everything from Super 8's to 5 star Hiltons and Marriotts from Los Angeles to London. My journeys have often taken me the through the Toledo area, where I often stay at Choice's Quality Inn in Holland. Although the frills and amenities of the hotel are limited, so are the room rates. In this case, you get more than you pay for. Most notable is the caliber, competence, and attitude of the staff. I'm always relieved when I arrive and find the front desk manned by Melanie, a warm, intelligent and conscientious individual who unfortunately is not always there. Several others are not nearly as knowledgeable or capable. Melanie knows a lot more than how to check guests in and out. She seems to be aware of the hotel's entire operation, from top to bottom, and calls upon that knowledge in advising guests on a few ways to make their stay more comfortable. As a quasi-public relations person for the hotel, she's excellent. I should also single out two maintenance people--Ryan and Dale. Any time I needed something adjusted or replaced or whatever, they were there quickly with a smile, and always got it just right. My overall opinion? Thanks largely to some of the staff, this is a GREAT place for a budget-conscious and just slightly fussy frequent traveler.
