My husband & I arrived for a 4 night stay. We were in town to do the Stillwater 1/2 marathon starting in WI & ending near the hotel. Packet pick up was also at the hotel, which was convenient. The description of the hotel sounded interesting too. Those were the reasons I chose Water Street Inn. The only thing available when I made my reservation was the St Croix suite & everything was sold out on Saturday. I especially looked forward to reading on the balcony & using the whirlpool after the event to soothe achy muscles. Sadly, neither of those took place. The Hotel was easy to find. Checkin went well as did the outdoor parking & finding our room (304). The elevators worked well & were prompt all during our visit. 304 was interesting We had no balcony :(. When I made the reservation, one of the selling points to me was the statement that most of your rooms had balconies. As early as we checked in on Thursday, that should have been no problem for us to get one, in my opinion. A ‘makeup’ area near the front door made me feel this should have been for a bridal party or fashion show. We certainly didn’t need it, except for being able to read with enough light, which is where I had to sit to do so. There was literally only a very dim light in the living area, which was not conducive to reading. The bedroom had lights but only if you sat by the armoire or at the desk. The living area had a huge heavy round table with a black square tablecloth that was so long it kept getting caught on the chairs or sliding off. I appreciated the frig being in the room when we arrived. The top part, the freezer, was really a great one. The frig part, however, froze my strawberries & everything else we put in there. Not sure what was going on there. The furniture, especially the bedroom desk chair, was dusty. I took my finger & swiped along it & the dust just fell off. There was no soap at the bathroom sink to wash your hands. I appreciated the containers in the shower that had bath gel & shampoo. I did call down & ask about soap & they brought up 4 bars (I only took/needed one). The shower was nice, had great water pressure. There were only 4 hangars for the two of us staying 4 days, which was interesting. Can’t imagine, based on the fact that there was no dresser or chest to put your clothes in. At the same time I asked about the soap, I also asked about hangars. “How many do you need?” Was the question when I called. I asked for about 4 more. Still we used the rack above the hangers & cleared out a shelf in the armoire to put out clothes on. The TVs were very small & there was no access for us to connect our Apple TV. The remotes were sticky/dirty. The bedroom door would not close. The queen bed (that’s all I could see that you had) was comfortable but when you are used to a king, it makes a big difference. I ended up not even trying the whirlpool. There was no fan nearby that would have absorbed the moisture that it would have put i
