Relaxed, beautiful and friendly. Maravu Lodge staff are friendly, and get to know all their guests by name and constantly making sure everyone is happy, especially Carli who provides fantastic entertainment most evenings; great singing and story telling of village life and his ancestors. We were welcomed like we were family. As with most of Taveuni Island, cash is preferred payment method. There is only one ATM on the island. Bar has very limited range of drinks and is cash only. Restaurant menu changes daily and is limited but food is always good, especially if Esther is the cook.If its busy, allow an hour or more for meals, but if you have a tour booked for early morning, your breakfast is prioritised. Walking distance to other restaurants and 2 small supermarkets. Our Bure was big, roomy and at the back of the lodge, which meant peaceful and quiet. Only negative, the website states that only the TreeHouse and Hilltop House has a fridge, kettle, etc. We found out that some bures were provided with a fridge and kettle, but not all. If we had of known this, we would have requested these rooms, as we stayed for 10 days. This place shows the true Fijian spirit, and yes, it does run on Fiji time so take the opportunity to just slow down, relax and enjoy the beauty of Taveuni Island. And don't stress if you pay for your meal and don't get change immediately, they never forget and it will come to you.
