The surroundings and accommodation were lovely on first sight. We had a warm welcome on reception, and the lodge we stayed in was very spacious and well equipped. There's an amazing view from the site over the coast. Unfortunately, the site was like a ghost town - it is VERY quiet, which may be exactly what you're looking for, but I found it too quiet. There were a few cars around, so we knew people were there, but barely actually saw anyone!! The three times we tried to eat in the restaurant (over 5 days and during opening hours advertised), we got a different excuse, the best one being "we're not open tonight" (Saturday night 7.30!!!). Fortunately, there are some great pubs around serving fantastic food (The Ship Inn, The Rashleigh Inn and The New Inn - all within a few minutes - were all superb.) The pool was nice and quiet!! Good facilities, friendly staff. Plenty of parking space :D The games section on the lawn consisted of a broken Connect 4, a broken swingball, a deflated football and a croquet game with no bats or balls. The forest walk and play area was nice (quiet!). Overall, this is a nice quiet place to stay for a nice quiet break. It's very convenient for the Eden Project. I would say that if you are looking for the look and feel of Cornwall, then this is not the place to be. You won't find lovely beaches, the laidback surf vibe or anything of that nature until you drive some distance away from it.
