We spent a week here from the 23rd-30th October, and what an amazing week we had. I had high hopes for this holiday and the resort didn't disappoint. We arrived at Arina Beach around 1am (after our flight was delayed leaving Birmingham after an incident shut the airport for a few hours). Check-in was seamless and we were shown to our room by one member of staff who also helped us with our luggage. He also said we could go down to the main restaurant as a late night buffet was provided to late arrivals, which went down nicely with a beer. We stayed in a penthouse room in the main building on the 5th floor. Lovely spacious room, with a great view. Our room was cleaned each day and plenty of fresh towels provided. As it was my partners birthday on the 25th, they even left us a birthday cake in our fridge! We had no complaints with the food, we ate in the main Ariadne restaurant 4 times while we were there, twice in the Sunset Asian Restaurant and once in the A la carte. Highly recommend booking for the Asian and A la carte restaurants which you can do via an app you can download, again the food was great. There was plenty of variety at breakfast times too. Also during the day, snacks were available from the Ariadne and Dia Beach bar, buffet style. The beer is a local offering, 'Minoan Era', which was decent and I had no complaints, cocktails went down a treat, probably a bit watered down but when its a nice warm day they still go down well. The staff at all the bars always knew what you were drinking before you asked, and they were all friendly, talkative and helpful. The weather was great for our week here, around 21-22c each day, but felt at lot warmer than the actual temps, so we all came back with a nice winter tan. Pools were lovely and fresh, a little bit cold, but best way to get over that is jump straight in! I am sure these will be a lot warmer in the peak of summer time. Plenty of towels were always available for use around the pool or at the beach. The beach was clean and the sea water was warm and clear, and plenty of sun loungers available at all times of the day. There is a bus stop is right outside the hotel, so if you fancy a trip into the town of Heraklion, for the three of us, it was around 8 euros (one way), and a journey time of around 10-15mins. The evening entertainment wasn't as good as we had hoped for, maybe as it was towards the end of the season. Maybe it is better in the peak of the holiday season. All in all, our holiday was amazing, we loved it here and we will definitely be returning next year, and a big thank you to all the staff who work so hard here keeping the resort clean and looking after us holiday makers.
