My husband and I tourists last year when Kelowna was evacuated and the B.C. State of Emergency said that hotels in Vernon were for fire evacuees and first-responders only. When we tried to cancel our tourist reservations at the Vernon Marriott, and get a refund, as it filled with wildfire smoke, the manager said “no,” even though we as tourists had no right to take a room that was supposed to be for evacuees and first responders. How do we get our money back and report the hotel? We have lots of evidence: photos, hotel recipt, everything. Will we ever travel to B.C. again? Absolutely not.
