Good Morning. Cindy and I lived in Esquimalt for many years and would use a stay at your suites as a staycation. We have stayed in many of your suites including the small house, the steam shower room 4 and in most of the suites in the four unite building behind the restaurant. We always enjoyed our stay and the experience. About 2.5 years ago we moved up Island and have stayed at your establishment and two others on our frequent trips to the Victoria Area. Our last trip, December 28, has left us feeling very dissatisfied with several aspects of our stay. One of the nice extras about Spinnakers experience was that in the suites there were some complimentary Spinnakers beverages in the fridge which were always enjoyable. It was also a treat to have a complimentary breakfast in your restaurant. This trip no beverages, no breakfast and the charge for the room was up almost 100 dollars from our last stay. The room we were staying in was very dated. It had no dishwasher and not even a dish drying rack for washed dishes. The fridge barely kept anything cool. There was a warning not to use more than one electrical device or the breaker would be tripped. The supplied French Press is a very antiquated method of brewing coffee with the one premeasured coffee allotment not enough to make a decently strong brew of coffee. A room that has dishes and glasses for 4 people should have more than one ration of coffee and 2 teabags - one breakfast tea and one flavored tea. The most disturbing aspect of our trip this time was the huge concern for safety while walking around the unit and the grounds. Our suite had a front door out to the street, but we were unable to locate the light switch for the porch light. An even bigger concern is that there is no safety handrail on the front porch steps. The wooden walkway leading to the back, main, door has a section where the wooden tread is either broken or rotten and broken. The stairs down to the parking spot have no safety handrail while the actual parking spot has uneven pavement, rocks and roots and other items that are a walking safety hazard. It is very dangerous. I am surprised that no guests have contacted the municipality safety inspectors and requested a review. After discussing our recent trip Cindy and I have reached the decision that this will be our last visit. The other two establishments we have used are newer, cleaner, safer, have more amenities and are considerably safer having handrails and even walking surfaces. They are also less expensive.
