My overall experience was just below average. Check-in experience: we got late and checked in at 10pm. When we reached there, one of the staff asked for our IDs and asked us to sit. A few girls were sitting at the counter and no one bothered to come and even ask for water. That's when I went there and asked if they would be bothered to offer some water. My in-room experience: we stayed at pool Vila and it was the worst experience. Looked like a lodge or a dormitory. They sell pool Vilas as if it's a high end Vilas. However, you can easily hear what someone is talking about in the pool Vila next door. We found a lot of mosquitos. In fact one hotel staff rang our bell when we all were already sleeping. He was checking if we asked for a van and I was shocked. I told him that we didn't ask for van and I could hear him checking with the next door Vila if they had asked for the Van and yes, it was them who asked for the Van. Not sure if reception guys don't tell them the Vila who asked for a van? Dinner as we reached there: we drove down from Bangalore. Since we were late, we thought to cross the jungles before it gets closed (we were told that it closes by about 9pm) and decided to have our dinner afterwards. When we reached Sultan Bathery, we were feeling tired and it was late so we decided not to stop for food on the way and called our resort to check if we can order food in the room to which they confirmed that yes I can order food in the room. So when I checked-in the hotel and asked for food, they said only sandwiches are available and nothing else. After I told them that if your staff would have informed us, we would have had our food at Sultan Bathery itself, they offered us some rice and a gravy after quite a long wait.. The very next day, as I had my breakfast, I realised the quality and the taste of food was just average and none of the staff at the restaurant was bothered about anyone. They were working, no doubt but if you need something, you should not ask them. However when I went for lunch, I asked if they have gluten free options (since my wife can only eat gluten free food) and to my utter shock, the restaurant staff wasn't even aware what that meant (they call themselves a five star property??). I decided to call the Taj Wayanad and the restaurant manager confirmed that they can offer multiple gluten free options. So we decided to go to Taj for our lunch which was about 30 minutes away from this resort and it was altogether a very different experience. If I give 100 points to Taj, this Vythir Village resort will get 5-10 points. The staff was very courteous, the chef himself came and asked about our food requirement and brought the food accordingly. It was amazingly tasty food. In fact, the chef offered us a complementary sweet dish which wasn't expected at all. Check-out experience: staff including few females and a male staff (someone senior) were there and the reception was completely empty and yet, no one even bothered t
