Not a hotel I would recommend. While it appears they are trying to rejuvenate the area, they have a long way to go to make it feel welcoming and safe. The room we stayed in was partially renovated - basically by partially, I mean the washroom. The rest of the room was not updated and could really use a facelift. The room was tired looking and the carpet really needed replacing. The lobby is under renovation and is blocked off. I was unsure where to check in upon arrival. They have set up what was a back office as the check in desk. It was not very welcoming with a half door. I had to ask where I check in. The key pieces of info they told me were parking was paid only and they asked if I agree. Next they said there are 2 bottles of water in the room and a laundry bag. If we drank the water or used the laundry bag, they would charge us. I understand charges for certain things but the way it was stated was not customer friendly. Besides small groups of people hanging outside the entrance at all times of the day and night and smoking right at the door, the area is not safe. Our car was broken into. There was no sign of forced entry which indicates their was a level of "professionalism" involved. They cleaned out everything from inside but left us a large tree branch alongside the passenger seat. There was dirt all over the inside of the vehicle. We reported the break in/theft to the police online & informed the front desk. We asked that they go through the video footage and let us know if there was any suspicious activity between 10 pm when we parked and 9 am when we discovered the break in. The approach of the staff was nothing short of disgusting. They said they would review the footage but couldn't say when. When we told them we lost all items that were in the vehicle (USB port, sunglasses, etc) they said "that is what happens in Winnipeg. You should always empty everything out of the car". That might have been important to share at check in instead of saying they would charge us for the use of a laundry bag. When we checked back on the review of the footage, we were told by someone who did not appear to be a front desk person but perhaps a manager that their security company would look at it either that evening or the next day and indicated they don't really know when. He came across as not caring in the least and kept shrugging his shoulders like "oh well". I asked if they have security during the night and they confirmed they do but the shift finishes as 2:30 am. Why they don't have security on all night or all day, we are not certain. The next day we were told that security did review it and saw nothing and that the security personnel did not either but that a member of the front desk staff was looking at it. When we returned to ask if anything was found, we were then informed that nothing was seen but that the security company supervisor was going to look at the footage. I reminded them that this was alre
