The Moorland Hotel

As previously mentioned the exterior is dated but having read the good reviews this didn’t matter I checked in and was given room 5 wow lovely view from the window That’s where the positivity ends The toilet had faeces still on the side the shower area was riddled with black mould. The walls had damp and wallpaper peeling off There was no way I was staying there When I went to complain and say I would t stay there they didn’t even ask me what was wrong with the room. I was given the key to room 13 On first glance wasn’t bad Went and had food which was lovely Came back to room then started to notice more mould and peeling wallpaper sockets didn’t work etc The noises of people in the other rooms/corridor left me feeling unsafe and I resorted to wedging a chair under my door handle that night. There were a lot of workmen staying there but you can’t get breakfast until 730 This was no good to me or them as we had to leave for work before When I asked for the coat of breakfast to be refunded basically got told no !! I can honestly say this is by far the worst hotel I have ever experienced and would urge everyone not to stay here ever

Booked deal through Groupon for Dinner, Bed and Breakfast. Some parts of the hotel were a bit dated but room was clean and comfortable. View from balcony was amazing, we unfortunately arrived too late to enjoy a walk on the moors. Food was fantastic and service was great. Will definitely be returning

Although a little off the beaten track but there were views good views from our room. The staff were extremely accommodating and were there to assist in any way. Our room was clean but perhaps a little run down. However, the hotel staff did all they could to prepare the food for my wife who has an eating disorder. We went to attend a Christmas car club social with friends. We will definitely stay at the hotel again.

The staff were amazing, super friendly and helpful, breakfast to order was spot on, food always cooked fresh, a very calm place with fantastic views, extremely good priced food and drink. Quick access of 10 minute drive to local or supermarket requirements. Lots of stunning walks with horses and sheep a plenty with many other wildlife along the moors. Already planning next stay

Booked the stay through Groupon 2 nights B&B with  2 course evening meal and welcome drink. Only to be told on the second night when ordering that the meal wasn’t included on the second night. We immediately complained and asked the manager to show us anywhere on the Groupon booking website where it said that the second night had to be paid for. He just said it “has to be paid for “ and we should blame Groupon as it was their advert? Groupon state in their terms and conditions that the business is responsible for their advertisement. We also never received the welcome drink which we raised with the manager on check out and again our complaint about the misleading advert. The manager told us we were the most unreasonable customers he had ever had. Our room was in need of maintenance and a good clean. The sliding door on the balcony won’t slide shut, the balcony was dirty, See the pictures. Groupon refunded us for the meal and thanked us for letting them know. We are unable to leave a review about the hotel on the Groupon site.

My husband and I visited had a lovely weekend at Moorland Hotel. Our room was on the 1st floor and was very comfortable. We ate in the restaurant in the evening both evenings. The menu choice had a good range and was very nice. Breakfast had to be pre ordered, was freshly cooked and was very nice. The only thing which was slight disappointing was the Wi-Fi was not available in our room.,only available in the downstairs area. Other than that the hotel is a perfect place for a peaceful get away.
