Stayed here for 5 days at the start of September. Firstly, I would say that this has the foundation of what could be a luxurious 5 star hotel. The location is perfect being just a step away from the seafront and a 10/15 minute walk to the port. The rooms are spacious, ample lighting in the common areas and good water pressure in the shower. I was staying in the junior suite with shared pool access and the terrace/pool area was well spaced out for the number of rooms. What was lacking was the minor details that make a hotel a truly 5-star experience in my opinion. Firstly, housekeeping weren’t very thorough, they didn’t turn up after the first night, didn’t fully clean, replenish toiletries or water when I asked them to clean the room the next day. The light in the entrance that I asked to be changed upon arrival as it was flickering never got changed, the tv didn’t work and there was a kettle but no teabags or milk. A desk area with no notepad and pen/pencil, simple things like this. Also the sheets had a strange smell. There weren’t enough parasols for all of the rooms so if you want one then you have to request it and they will pinch it off someone else. Felt like the pool area and restaurants were missing some background music to offer a bit of ambiance. Breakfast service was slow, hot drinks needed to be requested at least 3 times before it arrived - every morning! Most 5 star hotels that I have stayed at before (with much larger occupancy) have usually been able to know my order before having to ask after one or two days. Food choice was limited but understandable with number of guests and minimising waste. We had dinner on the first evening as they had freshly caught sea bream on the menu and I have to say the food was exceptional, really simply seasoned but just perfect. Cocktails were good and we had the baklava with mango sorbet which was delicious. The waitress was very friendly and attentive, whilst there were only 2 other couples in the restaurant we found the service to be the exception rather than the norm. We didn’t manage to try the a la carte menu but had we of been there longer we certainly would have given the quality. All in all I would rate this hotel a European 4 star.
