"I arrived around 11:00 AM on the day of check-in, and the front desk said my room was already ready. They originally assigned me room 528, but when I went up, I found another guest's luggage inside, along with toiletries and slippers at the sink area. I went back down to inform the front desk, and they claimed that the guest hadn't officially checked in yet, and that the luggage was placed inside by the staff. Really? You put someone else's toothbrush and slippers on the bathroom counter? The slippers were those cheap travel ones from Taobao—I know because I buy them myself! I stayed for three days and two nights, and everything was fine in between. Then came the most bizarre part. I went with a friend. I booked via Ctrip and provided my Mainland China phone number. My friend booked via Trip.com using a Hong Kong app, using either a Mainland or Hong Kong number (not entirely sure). We added the front desk on WeChat on the day we checked in, and they even sent us info about buying tickets and chartered cars as reference! On the third day, it was time to check out, which was around 11:00 AM. The hotel allowed my friend a late check-out until 1:00 PM. We left separately. My high-speed train was at 2:14 PM, and I didn't receive any calls or WeChat messages from the hotel the entire way. At 3:04 PM, I suddenly received a WeChat message from my friend containing a photo of some unwanted items I had left behind—things like tape and a comb—asking if I wanted them! The hotel had a note on file that we were traveling together. But seriously, if the hotel noticed a guest left items behind, shouldn't they have looked up my booking phone number in the system? You had me on WeChat at the front desk—couldn't you have messaged me directly? Why send photos of my belongings to someone else and ask *them* instead? I’d like to ask: Were your phones broken? Was WeChat broken? Could you not leave a message on Ctrip? What if I actually wanted those things? Traveling with a friend doesn't mean we're best friends, nor does it mean my personal items should be shown to other people! I just want to know: I only stayed for three days and two nights, so how on earth could you disregard guests' privacy like this, and how could you give a room that already had a guest's belongings inside to someone else?"
