"We stayed in the Minaret Room last week, and quite frankly, I wish Tripadvisor allowed zero—or better yet, negative—stars. This was by far one of the worst lodging experiences I’ve ever had. The room was a disaster: badly furnished, ice-cold, and with a non-functioning Wi-Fi connection. The space was cluttered with pointless, impractical furniture that seemed more decorative than usable—completely useless to any traveler with actual needs. It was freezing when we arrived. Nobody had bothered to turn on any heating in advance. When we finally figured out how to switch on the heater, it only made things worse: unbearably loud and utterly useless. It made noise, not heat. Sleeping there felt like camping in a badly decorated refrigerator. As for the Wi-Fi: it was advertised, but non-existent. I left a message with the lodge operator—radio silence. No callback, no follow-up, no fix. Clearly, guest comfort and basic services are not a priority here. My advice? Don’t walk—run—in the opposite direction. Stay anywhere else. This place is an overpriced embarrassment."

"We stayed here for a couple of nights and had a great stay. The units are immaculate and beds super comfy. Lots of space and a balcony. If you book the west unit you get the better view but even from the east unit we had nice views. It’s about a twenty minutes walk into town or you can take a longer route along the lakeside. Delicious breakfast foods provided including homemade mueseli and also home baked cookies and a bottle of wine. Only slight issue was there is no sink as such so washing up needed to be done in the bathroom but a bowl was provided for that so it wasn’t a big issue. Host was very friendly and gave us some good tips for the area. We would definitely stay here again if we come back to Wanaka which we really liked."

The Accommodation was spacious, immaculately clean, and thoughtfully designed with families in mind. Plenty of room for everyone, beautiful furnishings, and those mountain views from the windows never got old — even after several mornings waking up to them! The Staff were exceptional — warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. They went out of their way to make our family feel at home, from helping us plan day trips to arranging little surprises for the kids. That personal touch made all the difference. Activities & Location — being based in Wanaka means you're spoiled for choice. The retreat made it easy to explore everything the region has to offer, and we came back each evening to a peaceful, relaxing environment that felt like a true sanctuary. For Families, this place is a 10 out of 10. The kids were happy, the adults were relaxed, and that combination is honestly hard to find. We didn't want to leave. Mishika Retreat Wanaka is the kind of place that stays with you long after you've checked out. We are already talking about coming back next year. Highly, highly recommended. Don't think twice — just book it."

"We stayed in Chalet 1 which is a 3 bedroom apartment. Very comfortable and everything you need for a family. Apartment was clean and bedding was very comfortable. Thank you to Pip who gave us recommendations for things to do in Wanaka and restaurant recommendations. She is very knowledgeable about the South Island as a whole. Our plans changed due to a road closure and an extra night was needed and organised with ease. The views are stunning from this motel! In front of the motel is a park and the picture perfect lake. A lovely sight to see! "
